Quick question, when your car is tuned and you have a remote steering wheel BC switch button to switch from low to high boost during a race will it effect your optimum power. Example: say my car was tuned for a low boost of 15psi and I switched over to my high boost as soon as I hit 3rd gear which will be set at 25psi, will this basically end up as an untuned 25psi or how does that work? Does the ECU compensate for the differance? I know Greg Collier does it.

What sort of ECU you running? i am running a Wolfems and it has what they call map switching which does exactly what you are talking about all automatically. and yes you would be running unchartered waters if not tuned for those levels

running the stock ECU right now. I didn't know I would need to change it. Where did you get yours and how much did it cost?

I know I could have a dyno shop tune it at what ever level I want but, I think they would have to save each setting in different data files on the SAFC-II. That would really be hard to switch over during a race and you would more than likely crash. I'm just kidding, I know your not supposed to change data files while the car is running, at least that's what the manual says.

Anybody else know how this caould work?
If the ECU doesn't cost an arm and a leg than I would probably get it.
How exactly does the Wolfman ECU work, does it automatically calculate where your settings should be for that level based on the previous one?

They have a little memory module that holds fuel/ ign maps that plugs in and it just switches over to those settings at predetermined time. but with a standalone you just tune your full range and it uses what your throttle wants. i use the memory chip for EPA if i ever get caught. The map in the memory module is real lean for their smog tests cause they only do free rpm checks it doesnt hurt!

So all I need to do is buy a little chip like you have and it will save different settings on it and switches over to another setting when your boost meets that criteria? They can't just program two different settings on my ECU at the dyno?
Sorry about all the questions, I tried IM'ing you but it says your currently signed off???

Oh well, I guess that would have to be the way to go then. I really appreciate all your reply's, thank you very much man. I'll research the link you gave me a little more and see what I can figure out. Thanks again.

I would really consider getting a EMS in the case that you are thinking about a standalone. They are the shiz.

Yea, i don't know for sure if I'm going with a standalone but it would be nice. I actually considered doing what Grn95GST suggested being that the only reason that I would put it on low boost is if I came to a stop. Being on un-tuned low boost of about 15psi wouldn't be as dangerous as an un-tuned high boost of 25psi. Being I'm going to be using the GT-30R turbo, even an un-tuned 15psi wouldn't really be that slow and its not going to be that long, only 1st and about 1/2 way to all the way through 2nd (stil gotta wait and find out what speed I will actually gain traction. Speeking of traction, what is the widest tire we can have up front without modifying the wheel well. I might have to make a new post about that.

You might find this interesting. With an EMS you can set up traction controle and gear/RPM dependent boost control. The EMS will also audomatically adjust your fuling based on how much boost you are running at the time. I love mine. If you need any more info let me know.
