Sway bar question?

So I recently installed the RM rear sway bar on my 2g and the bar is hitting the alignment bolt. Does a Sway bar move side to side at all or just mostly up n down? If I move the sway bar little to the passenger side it wont rub but it wont be even on both side. The end links would kinda look like /____/

Move it so that you can get it bolted up and you'll be fine. I believe it's not perfectly symmetrical.
