Swapping to 1g engine / tranny tsi

Well with my auto transmission acting up, and just found out on my engine with only 5k on it the crank case is leaking... I'm going to be buying a 1g tsi engine / transmission / drivetrain and converting my car to manual and obviously awd.

Wonder if anybody could give some useful information on the 1gs, from what I know they have stronger bottom ends and more power stock.

Just wondering about any useful mods for these while I put it together.

Also, I have known for people having issue when converting a car over to manual, which my guess is that you leave in the automatic TCM and the same ECU also this would probably cause the bad shifting issues and what not.

I'm just wondering what mods would be best first, going to be my first manual in a long time and is their any 2g parts that should be put on this at all?
