I have two 91 Talon tsi awd's, one with a running drivetrain, one without. I bought the parts car a couple year ago mainly for the front bumper cover and a few other parts. after neglecting the project for nearly 2 years, my dad was looking them both over the other day and said "your parts car is in better shape cosmetically than your running car, why don't you just swap the engine/tranny/etc instead of doing all the body work on the other one."

The plus side to this is, I can put the cars basically side by side during the swap. My biggest question is, being a newbie to the DSM world, I'd like to compile a list of things to go ahead and do that would be easier while I have the engine/tranny out. it has about 110,000 on it, and is 100% stock. From reading on here, I can see that a timing belt change is necessary, and the usual plugs, wires, injectors maybe? I would just like to get as much done as possible while everything is out in the open and accessible.

Thanks for the input.

well u can do the swap quite easily, with a 110k on the engine i would replace the belt and do a ballanceshaft removal. but unless u had problems with the injectors i wouldnt replace them. Since u have the engine out i would do all of the mantence now while its easy, also do the lifters, wires, spark plugs, replace the air filter if u need to, replace the trans fluid if its a manual trans, clutch, flywheel, motor and trans mounts, replace diff fluid, boost leak test, compression test, replace belts and possibly the pullies if needed, etc. i might have forgot a few things but i hope this helps, u can find stuff in street tuned motorsports (stm) that u may need. sorry if there is any spelling mistakes and i hope this helps! Good Luck Bro!
