Swap, rebuild or replace?

I got my car from Aamco. Now for work, I was looking into just replacing the torque converter with an ipt tq converter, my question with that is did the old tq converter fried my tranny and if it did should I rebuild it or replace it with a 5speed?

I say swap a 5 spd into it. Way more fun to drive.

depends on your goals for the car. If you want a fun DD then 5 spd for the win, but if you eventually want an all out drag car then stick with auto.

Doo you have huge power goals? Auto's are much more durable when it comes to flat out drag racing wise but if your looking for something more fun just for driving then go ahead and swap it.

It's more for daily driving with some goals of 250 - 300 hp if possible. But I want it to still be reliable for DD. Main problem is I'm really low on cash because of Xmas.

Yeah, with those goals, I would do a MT swap into it. Wait till tax time to do it.

Welp, Auto trannys can def take more beating. ( i sold my auto =p)
and since i got my 5 speed i been loving it..

But also the 5 speed swap does take some man hours and money..

Drag "><=" Fun ? Your choice =)

manual all the way, its just fun to drive as a DD. i would suggest buying the trans ahead of time and re-building it and using all new parts tho, done want to do all the work of converting it and then have to yank it back out a couple months later because u used a used clutch or syncro's. but ya its worth it in my opinion.

Manual's tons of fun until you're stuck in stop and go traffic for an hour.

I decided to swap the transmission. I started going to class at Lincoln tech and they are giving full access to all their snap on tools and lifts. hopefully within the next month I'm going to rebuild the transmission and engine and also upgrade the turbo with everything else. I will keep all you guys posted on there build. Aiming for it to be done by middle of February.
