So heres the deal, i bought the car 4 months ago and i urgently need to get a new suspension + springs...

ill attach a picture of my car so you can see how paintful it is, as my country roads are not the bests!

ok, so after reading tons of post abot suspension and springs... what i would really like is my car to be 1" lowered from original ride height.

i came up with the:

Springs:

Tanabe TGF005 GF210 Grip Feeling Springs

Amazon.com: Tanabe TGF005 GF210 Grip Feeling Springs: TheFactoryDepot

they lower the car 1" from original height and the springs are rated 30% more than original springs...

for struts the tokico blue

Amazon.com: Tokico HU3533 HP Shocks: TheFactoryDepot

Amazon.com: Tokico HU3532 HP Shocks: TheFactoryDepot

Also boot and strut mounts kit (both tokico)

Tokico Strut Mounts and Boots - JDM parts: Honda, Toyota, Nissan - Japanese aftermarket and performance car parts

Tokico Strut Mounts and Boots - JDM parts: Honda, Toyota, Nissan - Japanese aftermarket and performance car parts

what im concerned is if the tokico hp length is the same as the spring cause i really can't afford to buy something i wont be able to use... i live in central america and ill need to pay a lot of taxes to get those things here.

what i dont want is the strut length to be bigger than the spring length...

hope i explained myself...

thanks in advance

I cn't really answer your qustion about that set up. However, you may want to check ebay coilovers. A frien of mine bought a full coilover set up for 2gs of ebay. They were only 300 and some. They seem like good quality for the price. Hasn't had them on the car that long though.

So youre concerned with lengths in regards to shipping correct?

make sure you are looking at spring rates/drop rates for Spyders, if you take a GSX drop rate (say 1.3") you can add almost 3" to that and you get the spyder final drop rate. I just installed Eibach prokits (1.3" for GSX) on my spyder and it SLAMMED it and caused all sorts of rubbing issues, then found out prokits on a spyder are 1.6" drop. I only want a minimal drop (get rid of 4x4 look) so im pretty much stuck with Tein H-Techs.

Aren't the Spyders relatively heavy? Many drop rates are considered for DSM's that are not Spyders. Therefor, if you see a specific drop rate for a (for instance) 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse, the drop rate may have been figured for a hard top (and much lighter) car. I understand that one mistake could be costly, so do ALL the research you can before ordering.
Another resource on suspension could be Grassroots Motorsports Magazine. These guys eat, sleep, and breath suspension...........
I hope this helps, man!

Some of my friends and I have had problems with Tokico's leaking prematurely. Although I'm not sure how my friends drive, but I baby my car and avoid bumps/potholes at all costs, so in my case I don't think misuse was the cause for the premature leaking. They had less than 10k on them. I'm not saying they're all bad, just something to take into consideration.

thats the thing... i dont really care much about shipping as im willing to pay it.

the thing is i don't want to keep my car that low... god its so sad

spring rate: F 5.8 / R 3.1

drop: F 1.1 / R 0.9

i once made the mathematics and it was around 345 lb front and 238 lb rear (im talking about spring rates here)

so im beggin as the rates are far over stock ones they should hold the car high...

But are those hp struts shorter than stock struts?

the ilumina kit drops it too low, ill then need a camber kit and that will be around $600 more to get them here... thats why i want 1 inch drop LOL

here's more pics of my car

heres tanabe site for the springs

Tanabe USA Inc. - GF210 Grip Feeling Springs

in tokico's website they stated that the spyder uses the same rear struts as the GSX

thanks for the replies
