so yesterday i noticed my tsi (1991) was more "bumpier" than usual. it went away after a few minutes of driving, i got home but it was too dark to see it was around midnight....... i drove to work today and it started bouncing again, when i drove home it bounced alot even more than what it was doing..... i looked at the front end of the car when i got home this morning and realised the front of the car was lower than usual... especially on the front right. i can barley stick a finger in the gap from the wheel well to the tire.......... on the left side i can barely stick three fingers in that gap...... what could be the problem...... shocks or struts... or somethign else i thought it could be the shocks or the struts.......? please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!:cry: thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are your struts leaking? Warped springs maybe?

ill take a look i have to change the lower control arms anyway so hopefully i can find the problem but then again... im terrrible at suspension ahah.... i cant diagnose shit...... uhm i honestly dont know.... i dont have ne where to jack the car up because theres ice everywhere.... so i have to wait til tuesday when i get to my auto shop in school to take a look at it..... but if you have some ideas let me know and ill take a look tuesday thank you!

Well, from what your saying, it sounds like to me that your front shocks (or maybe all of your shocks) maybe just went out because theres no way that your springs would just warp unless you took a torch to them in the past few days and didn't remember doing it, but anyways I would just go ahead and just replace the front 2 shocks and see what happens from there.

Yesterday morning the front of my tsi was really low, i could barely fit my finger in the gap between the wheel well and the tire on the right side, the left side i could barely fit 2 fingers in the gap. i came back this morning to look at it and my suspension was back to regular height..... what the .... is going on? please help me!

Did you tell your old lady to get out? J/k

It sound odd but the only thing that can really cause that would be something binding. I would start by checking all of your bushings and struts for movement. Possibly upper strut mounts also look at those real close too.

Perhaps there's ice stuck somewhere? How does it look, did you lift it up to see or? Now that it's back to regular height do you see any problem with the suspensions? It sounds like your problem resolved itself.

And please don't duplicate posts; this only helps cluttering up this forum and make valuable info harder to find. Also use proper spelling please.

check the shock where the spring sits sometimes the weld can break and the spring can fall down if the front end bounces like your going over hills the shocks are bad for sure

If the weld broke I wouldn't think it would raise back up to normal height. Like stated before I would bet that it has to do with the weather. Water expands when it freezes. Could be a possibility. Does your car have shocks or struts in the front? I know I need to get new struts for my 2g this week and they're very cheap.
