has anyone used either one of these bushing kits? and what one would be better to use, if i am correct the only difference in the two is that the prothane comes with Front Sway Bar Bushings and Rear Sway Bar Bushings and the energy kit coming with shifter stabilizer bushings other than that they should be the same right? let me know what ya guys think i should get.

I have the prothane kit. i havent noticed the typical urithane bushing sqeak and its still as tight as it was when new.

hey man i have never used prothane bushing on my dsm but i used them on my other cars like my mazda mx6 and and pontiac fiero they work great. they are worth the money

The Prothanes are harder than the ES. The typical recommendation is to stay with ES for a mainly street driven car.

RON- how will the ride be ideally with the prothanes on a street setup, alot stiffer so to speak?

next time we are at the same meet i'll have to take a ride in your car LOL to see how it feels. possibly GMU '08? LOL

+1 as good fiero bushings. I use them in the cradle when doing a SBC v8 swap and they are 100% firmer then the loose rubber ones. The "total" kit from fierostore is what i used in addition to the cradle kit. best $115 ive spent on handling ever

I ran prothane on my 2gGST.. I loved it, but it doesn't feel like a street use setup. I've been in ES rides, and they feel less agressive.

I'm looking at one of these kits for my 2gnt so the general idea is that the prothanes give you more and are easier to install? I don't care how agressive they are as long as I get the best performance for possible..

Prothane's urethane is definitely stiffer than Energy's. My cousin used Prothane mounts on his 2gb and he gets lots of vibration. He also claims they eliminated most of his wheel hop issues. I don't know about that one. He seems to like em but, they might not be good for a street setup.

The fact that he said that eliminated wheel hop a little bit makes sense. Ever see those engine torque dampeners for the EVO and other cars? It's kind of the same thing... it doesn't let the engine twist when you hit the gas.

My buddy installed the dampener in his Cobalt SS/SC and almost completely eliminated wheel hop. So I'm guessing your cousin was probably right... they'll do just about the same thing. :thumb:

How hard is takin out the metal ring where the old bushings are to install the prothane because that is the hardest part when doing prothane engine mounts. Am I right to understand that every bushing that the prothans kit replaces a metal ring and rubber stock setup?

If you are talking about the mount itself on you car, to take the mounts off their are usually 4 bolts on the plate that attaches them to the frame.

No i'm reffering to the prothane 13-2001 kit but my only experience with prothane was with motor mounts and I know they're a bi*** to unistall the old rubber and metal ring my question is I read you have to do the same thing with the ring on the suspension parts in the 13-2001 kit and I was curious how hard removing those metal rings are in the suspension pieces?

Hi guys,

I took my DSM to a local shop to have my RSR spring and Koni springs installed. I asked to have the full suspension kit installed, but it looks like they only did the shocks, because I have a boat load of parts left over. Anyone have any tips for the rest of the install? I'm guessing that I have the c-arm front and back left and the sway bars, but I already have aftermarket sway bars so I don't think I'll need though.

Thanks in advanced!
