Hey, hey. New Guy Alert!.

I read all the info before i started writeing this.

I'm not new to cars, nor mitsubishi's

I'm personally a Subaru Guy...(waits to get pelted by rocks) I've owned subaru's since i was 14.. i love em. I personally drive a 91 Turbo legacy..and it's one of the greatest cars i've owned.. one because it's a great car and two because i understand everything about it and what it can do...and what i can and can't do to it..

Unfortunately i can't say the same about the car i just bought.

I just bought (about 3 months ago) an 93 Mitsubishi GS. i paid 600 for it, and i want to make it better.. unfortunately when i bought it, i really didn't pay attention, it was dark i was tired..and i was tring to help a freind but that fell thru and i've kept the car..

It's a good car.

Now so far i've stumbled thru buying performance parts for the car by luck. I know what the diferance is between an 1g and a 2g car. 1g is 90-94 and 2g is 95-98? or something like that.. (waits for more rocks to be thrown)

The car is a 93 GS, i thought it was at least 2.0l by the way it pulled, and as peppy as it is. But upon closer egzamination, it's an 1.8l Cyclone engine. I'm thinking someone blew the original engine and had someone swap this Cyclone 1.8l into the car... So now instead of tring to explain to speed shops that i happen to have a weird engine no-one can tell me anything about..i am tring to see where i can go with this engine on my own,

I've got an injen intake (awsome part), i've got my poly-uro motor mounts in, but i want a bit more for this N/A set up. I wanted an intake manifold, Most say "FOR 1G", 1g what? 1g2.0l or 1g1.8l or does it make a differance?. I don't know..hell i can put a 2.0 to 2.2 to 2.5 header on any of those engines on a subaru..thier modular like that but i don't know what can be swapped between engines on a mitsu.. IF parts can be swapped between engines..

I want headers...but 1 i don't think i can find 1.8l headers..and even if i did...2 i got this CYCLONE head on mine..so i don't know if it'll even fit...

Now if some one could inlighten me... PLEASE, i look forward to any information you might have.

yup,89-94 cars are 1g(further broken down to 1ga and 1gb.1ga has popup headlights)

the gs came in 1.8 and 2.0 trim.the midlevel cars had the 2.0 4g63. the cyclone intake seems a bit odd,as it is stock part on jdm turbo engines to my understanding.thats about the limit to which i can help you.i know little of the 1.8's
 
the only thing i have really heard about the 1.8l cyclones are that they have a extra valve in the cylinderhead i can't remember if its the exahaust or intake side.. nothin really else..
there isn't a header for this engine :( but there is a place that will be selling them soon i have talked to them but they will be selling them hopefully very soon.. as for other mods a catback exhaust is a great place to start considering u have an intake already.. i would prefer 2.5in in size and if emissions aren't to strict where you are take that old cat off and install a cheep ebay hi flow cat, that will help alot also... next you could add some bigger performance ignition wires and ngk plugs.. since your cylinder head has an extra valve in each cylinder porting the intake and exhaust manifold would net some gains maybe even port match the cylinder head if you know you can without damaging anything..next you could move onto the drivetrain and add a lightened flywheel and performance clutch.. and you could always turbo or nitrious.. thats what i can think right now without getting into the internal part of then engine :thumb:
 
The intake manifolds, for 1g cars; like the one from venom, or a few other companies..they say 1g but do any actually fit the 1.8l 1g?

If i do find one, can i keep the stock fuel rail or does that have to be upgraded as well?

Once there any problem putting on the 75mm TB?

ya they mean the 1g 2.0's they don't make a manfold for the 1.8 and the 2.0's won't fit because of a diferent bolt pattern and cylinderhead.
 
Couldn't one just cut off the 2.0 flange and have a metal shop cut you one for the 1.8 and do some creative welding?.. I've done worse..

Heck at that point i might as well just make one from scratch huh?

Sigh. :cry: . well other than the intake and a hiflow 3" cat back.. i'm done for performance..

Well hey at least my wallet is breathing a sigh of relef.
