Hey, i'm new to this forum, and kinda new to cars in general, so i have a few questions....

I have a 93 Eclipse Non Turbo 1.8 SOHC.

I've been searching and searching but from all the results i've found it seems that my car can't have a CAI, i'm just wondering if this is true? And if it is, would the only possible way to get a CAI would be to get an engine swap?

i'll have more questions later, this is just the main one for now, thank you very much

you can make a 2.0 nt intake fit your car.

or just custom make an intake

ok, how do i make the top one work, and i don't think i can achieve the latter.... -_-

you can get a 2.0 nt intake off of ebay for pretty cheap, but they slap you will high shipping. but anyways, depending which you get, it should have everything you need, the worst that could happen is that you have to go somewhere and get the right size rubber connectors for it. just make sure whichever intake you get, that you still use the mas (the plastic thing thats INSIDE your stock filter that has a plug going into it. if you dont reuse it, will have problems.

ok, so it is possible to put a 2.0 n/t cold air intake on a 1.8 n/t car without too much work?

as i said before, the 2.0 intake will fit a 1.8, the only thing is, depending where you get it you may have to go to an auto parts store and get an extra rubber connector. which is pretty cheap and easy.

Ok, i was just double checking to make sure.... don't really feel like blowing money on an intake that i wouldn't be able to use LOL

however, the cosmo racing intake is not a CAI, it is a short ram. the only way to get a CAI is to get one custom made.

i know that was short ram, which is why i wasn't sure, and i asked again "ok, so it is possible to put a 2.0 n/t cold air intake on a 1.8 n/t car without too much work?" just to double check.....

so now from what you're saying, i will need a cold air intake custom made....?

no company makes a CAI for the 1g non turbos, this is what u will need to do.....
1.Best way is to get a 25-30 dollar short ram off ebay,
2.take out old intake
3.go to home depot and get about 3-4 feet of 2.5" or 3" pvc piping(3-4 is much more then u need but its nice to have sum extra) and a couple 90 degree pvc bends(or silicon cuplers)
4. in the spot under the old can drill or cut out a hole large enough for the pvc
5. install the short ram as intended and measure and cut pvc pipe as to get the MAS inside the fender
6. you will need some metal straps or something of the like to hold the mas in place so when at home dept pick up that
7. you will also need some wire and electrical connections to extend the wires for the MAS
8. hook every thing up in conjunction with the short ram and make sure you wired the mas right and ur all set

9. hope you never drive through water/water puddle

as far as making it fit, if there WAS an actual CAI for a 2.0, it would also fit the 1.8. i assumed you knew there was no CAI available. So yes, it would have to be custom made.

i think an easier thing to do would be to either get someone make you one or do it yourself, but get a heat shield made to block the filter from the engine heat then make sure the hole under the filter is clear to allow cold air through the front wing and up into the filter area. that way you can get colder air and not worry about extending the wires or sucking in water. think outside the box :thumb:

yea, i forgot about the water
you can always purchase that bypass valve from AEM or sum other company

Q about that cosmo short ram, is that a reusable filter??? Meaning can it be cleaned similar to the K&N's??? Finally, is there a noticeable difference after installation?? :dsm:

haha, ok, now it's clear to me....

because, before i've been hearing there is no CAI for 1g non turbos, but then all the stuff above saying it could be possible for it to fit.... and... yeah.... too much work for me to custom make one..... i'd probably screw it up anyway.... and i have no idea where in the hell a place would custom make me one (here in the STL area).....

think i'll just stick with short ram intake or regular intake..... anything is better than that damn stock snorkel... -_-

Think i'm just gonna buy an Injen intake..... so i can be all like "yeah, injen.... BAM"... then show them the injen bling on the intake...

like i said, it's better than the stock snorkel.... -_-

also, what's better... short ram or an injen intake (or one of the cheap ebay ones)?
