I used to own a 92 Talon TSi AWD and an ex took it with her when she left.... so now my sister is giving me her 92 eclipse non turbo automatic.. yeah i know.. crappy but its a free DSM.. so seeing as her engine is brand new i was wondering a couple of things.
#1 where can i go to get some performance parts online.. everywhere i go lists stuff for turbo DSMs...
#2 are the exhaust systems the same besides the manifolds? like from the cat back are they the same?
#3 which springs would be a good idea for the suspension.. her ex cut the stock ones instead of buying lowering springs...

The main things i am looking for are headers and intakes.. i see the punishment one and people keep talking about the pacesetter ones.. but i wouldnt put those on a chevette... so any suggestions would be great... i see the 2g tuning guide for non-turbos... but there isnt one for 1g

Thanks
Mike

The exhaust system is the same from the catback. I built my intake myself and use a GM MAF and translator which work VERY well and was the best mod I've done for the car. I have a punishment header and downpipe that I have as yet to put on the car. I like it because I'm able to use a downpipe for a turbo vehicle with it. You have the same engine as the 1g turbos with only a few minor differences (pistons, oil squirters, and an oil cooler) so you should be able to use some performance parts made for the turbo guys. I'm currently at 93% with my stock injectors at WOT so I'm going to be doing a fuel upgrade in my near future. That's a result of the GM MAF. Those things really open up the intake for us n/a guys and let us pull in a significant amount of air. If you need to upgrade your injectors and want to use some 390s or 450s, you'll need the resistor pack from a turbo car since we don't have one of those. Oh, and if you feel the need for a lightened flywheel, then you'll have to get a new tranny since they don't make one for us n/a guys. (different tranny, flywheel, and clutch from the turbo cars) Though ACT, Clutchmasters, etc.... all make aftermarket clutch upgrades for our vehicles if you feel the need.

As for suspension, a strut bar's not a bad idea. I run dropzone springs on GR-2s so I"m not exactly the guy to go to for suspension. :) LOL I'm putting some AGXs on my car as soon as I blow the GR-2s. It's actually not a bad ride at all right now and the handling is much improved (2 inch drop). But, I know I'm only biding my time with the GR-2s. They will pop on a 2 inch drop. At least the rear ones will.
