Am I the only one with this problem? I went to install my sunroof latch assembly and while sliding the sunroof in I smacked it and the rubbery old edge decided to crunch and break off. Its cunking away in about 3-4 area's. Does mitsubishi sell a replacement rubber ending around the sunroof or do I need a whole new sunroof?

Check an automotive upholstery shop that also does sunroofs and see what they say. You may be grief-ahead to just get a newer used one. I don't know how that rubber is bonded-on, and whether it's a big deal or not.

These guys will have the part, if it's available:

You can be sure that neither Mitsubishi nor Chrysler had anything to do with it- sunroofs are one of those things left to subcontractors (as Stanley, Niles, Grote or etc build the lights and lenses on the cars), and it's a good bet that the edge gasket will be a more-or-less standard part from the shelves of the actual maker. The question is whether it's just glued on, or in some way vulcanized in place.

did you ever find the replacement stripping? Im interested in hearing what you found out. I got an aftermarket sunroof installed on my 1g and I dont know where to get new weather stripping. I kinda didnt wanna get the uni-fit type stripping.

BTW: check your glove compartment. Is there a sticker in there by any chance that says ASC? Do you know if its a factory sunroof or aftermarket?

I have this same problem with my 92 talon's moonroof, if you find anywhere to fix this give me a shout.:thumb:

My 90 Talon has that sticker in the glove compartment. It said the sunroof was made by ASC in Santa Ana, California... I only know about one more member of this forum whit this kind of sunroof. Seems like some mitsubishi dealer sent a couple of cars to ASC to get electric sunroof installed and then sold those car with that accesory as an OEM.

BTW, I have been trying to find one of those kind of sunroof to replace mine but I really haven't been lucky... If someone knows something about this ASC sunroof will be greate!! the real thing is that those sunroofs are really huge so there is no place to make a bigger whole in the roof.. I need to found one with the same dimensions (21" X 31.5" on the glass)... I was wondering if the OEM sunroofs of the 2g dsm were so big like that??? in such case, maybe I can replace the old ASC sunroof with an OEM 2G sunroof... Any help will be very apreciated!!

Thanks in advance
