I am rebuilding the engine of my 91' Talon TSi... my idea is to get as much Hp's I can from my engine... I already have the Head ported and so the 2G Exh. Manifold and the 2G 02 housing... I was wondering if porting the intake manifold will help

I do my research on how to por the intake manifold on the vfaq web page but I didn't found anything... Can someone tell me how to get it ported??? or some suggestions about porting the stock 1G intake manifold?? or should I leave it like that???

Any link on how to get it ported????:sneaky:

Any help will be very appreciated...

Thanks in advance.

I definitely would not hand port it but take it somewhere where they flow it by small particles and its all even through the intake taking any high spots out. for some reason i can't think of it at the moment but i will get back to you in a few minutes.

Do you mean extrude honing? maybe

Many, many will say that the stock 1g head/intake combo is very good as is and very decent for the upper rpms... not loosing too much at top. it is the 2g head/intake that responds well to porting. So to answer the original poster's question, I don't think you'll achieve gains meritting the effort. It needs to be redesigned to get much more out of it (i.e. sheet metal intake manifold).

I think the general consensus is that gasket matching the openings could net some better flow however the runners already being very good on the 1G would only benefit from extrude honing as it is important to keep the internal dimensions of the runners equal.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think porting yoru intake manifold is going to benefit you much. However, if anything you will want to make sure that your intake manifold and head don't have a huge step transition between them.

Based on a posting I found in the NABR archives about how much various intakes flow, both OEM and after market, according to data that someone had collected, porting the 1G intake isn't going to get you any extremely noticible gains. It was also one of the better intakes to start off with as well.

Exactly, gasket matching, which would remove the step entering the head would have to offer a gain on some level. At the same time it wouldnt be worthwhile to remove the intake manifold just to do that. If it was already coming out for some reason then thats the time that you might as well do it if you have the means.
