One day my subs just cut out and never came back on. All fuses are good, the amp is seeing power and the light on the amp turns on. I completely ripped out my system to see if a connection had come loose and none have. Does this mean my amp is shot? Anything else I could check before going amp shopping?

Could have blown out your preamp output on your head unit. If your head unit has more than one preamp output, you can try to swap it to a different one.

There are some switches on the amp to change stuff for mine. My friend flipped one switch and it didnt thump hard. Also one time a friend disconnect a wire and connected it back poorly and they didnt thump. I still have a problem of my cd player cutting on and off, but some days it will work fine. I dont understand why. Ive checked my connections several times.

voltage meters are your friends in this type of problem. start with the amp and move forward. if the speaker terminals are pushing any type of voltage then you know the amp and everything before it is good and its somewhere between the amp and the subs. and so on. just keep testing outputs until you find your problem.

The preamp on my deck might be bad but I've tried to connect other sources to the amp and got nothing. Also I've tested the speaker terminals already and they are pushing voltage and the subs are connected to the amp correctly. This is why I'm so stumped, the subs don't buzz or crackle or anything.

Does your head unit havean amp mute or an amp off option in it;s setup feature?

Could have blown the subs. When you thump them so hard that the VC wire breaks off of the cone. Then you will get nothing.

Check your power wire fuse. thats under your hood.

If its stil connected. Disconnect power wire then attach it back(Worked for me one time)

If they still wont thump then take your subs out and check the wires that are connected to the actual sub not the fitting. (Black round pos|neg connecter)

They could be loose/ disconnected. Next check or re-locate your ground. if you have a cappacitor check that it reads 12.5.

If problem still exists take out your head unit and check the remote wire(thin blue or orange wire(depends on wiring kit))

If problem stil exists take apart your amp and see if there are any burnt processors, nodes, any burnt pieces ect..

Thats really all i can say. if that stuff doesnt help then tell me and ill brainstorm some more =[]

EDIT: LOL a lil late i guess -.- was the sub wires eh?
