How are the 2GB Talon side strakes attached to the doors? Are they drilled in the doors/quarters or are they just glued on?

I'd like to remove mine (ugly as they are), but if they're drilled into the doors, I'll just leave them on until it gets repainted.

Thanks.

They have a nasty adhesive on them and then they are attached by body clips. If I remember correctly the quarter has one or two clips, and the doors have four or five. So yes, if you take them off, there will be holes. It's also good to check to see if its an original Talon and not converted. I have seen eclipses converted to Talons and instead of drilling holes for strakes they will just glue them up.

And also, if you do end up removing them, make sure to throw them up in the classifieds if you don't want them anymore. Those are hard to come by, and many people would love to have them ;)

Schwebe is correct. They are held in by clips so you will have holes in your doors and rear quarters if you remove them. You can also make some cash selling them to someone who needs them if you don't want them. Beacuse they are so hard to find I snagged myself an extra set in case I lose one somehow. But I got mine for free from a friend. :D

It's definitely a '98 Talon, so they're pretty stuck in there. Damn. Between the giant holes in the hatch and the door/quarter panel holes this is going to be a lot of bodywork prep. :(

Thanks for the responses!

U crazy for not liking the look of a 2Gb Talon. And even crazier for defacing it.

Crazy like a fox!

Sorry but 2GB talons look way way way too much like Pontiac Sunfires for me to let stand.

It's got the thumbnail wing, same sort of tail lights, and dumb side molding all together!

I don't see any similarities what so ever. The 95-96 are the ones with the thumb nail spoiler BTW :)

For someone that's been here since 2002 I thought you would know that.

Considering I have a '98 Talon, yes, I hate the big boomerang/toenail clipping wing. They're both ugly as sin and completely misbalance the car.

I thought the wing was ugly too when I bought the car back in 2000. I have since grown to like it because it defines a talon. Don't take it off!!!!!!

If you hate it so much, why don't you just sell it and get one do you like. There are plenty of DSM'ers that would love that 98 Talon. With only 9,XXX made in 98, it's kind of a rare beast.
