I have a 2g but I am intrested in hearing what you guys believe is the best way to get a studder box in a 1G. I know there is dsmlink for the 2g's and the msd dis 2 can be used on 1gs as well as every 4 cylinder on the road but I also saw that msd makes a box called SCI+ which in the description sounds like it has the same feature. I really don't want to spend all that money for the dis-2 as the sci is $350. So I have a few questions. I know that all this is is a 2 stage rev limiter.

1) How hard is it to use?

2) Is there like a button you have to push to raise the rev limit right when your leaving the line or what? I pictured like a brake light switch mounted on the bottom side of the clutch pedal that would tell the "box" when the drivier is letting off the clutch.

3) I pictured like a brake light switch mounted on the bottom side of the clutch pedal that would tell the "box" when the drivier is letting off the clutch. Or am I completely wrong?

5) Whats the cheapest yet effective way to have a 2-stage setup?

6) Anybody have experience with either unit or another that I am not listing?

7) What about install is it easy?

Thanks for the help everyone, Kevin.

Oh yeah and I don't want to hear about how many parts I will break by building boost at the line I already know it's risky.

The 1G already has a switch that is activated when the clutch is pushed all the way in. That's how most stutterboxes work. It's called the starter safety switch, or something like that. Other stutterboxes use the cruise control cutoff switch at the top of the clutchs engagement.

If you have an EPROM ECU you can replace the EPROM chip with a Keydiver chip that has a stutterbox feature built in. check out www.DSMchips.com

wow that is the sweetest thing I have ever seen. Convert the factory boost gauge to a knock sensor! Wow very cool and only 95 bucks to get one with a studder box feature. Thanks alot man very helpful. That is what I am gonna go with most likely unless anyone else has some suggestions.

That is pretty cool. I still think the best way to go with a 1g (and of course the most expensive) is just to get a 95 EPROM and wire it in and run dsmlink.
Your talking about converting from obdI to obdII! OMG

so how do I know if I have an eprom ecu? Or do I need an eprom to run a chip from dsmchips.com? Sounds kinda like they send you an eprom chip?

Check this out it will help. http://www.tmo.com/howto/ecu1g/checkeprom.htm

You will need to have an ERPOM ecu and then it will need to be socketed. Once you get that done then you can just put the new Keydiver chip in it and hook up the clutch wire and you are done.

For more info goto www.tmo.com They made the "original" chips liek this but went under. They still have a bunch of good info on there site.

You need to re-learn how to launch a little bit, but it's not hard. It's a very nice feature.

There is already a factory switch under the clutch, you just use that.

Deja Vu?

5) Whats the cheapest yet effective way to have a 2-stage setup?
Probably to buy a 95 ECU and get the DSMChips chip. It's not any cheaper than a MSD box, but it has way more features.

Converting from obd1 to obd2? No thanks.

Sh!t Deja Vu again. And why would you convert if you already have a 1g eprom? Then it would only be around 100 bucks. Even if you don't have a 1g eprom I looked on ebay and found one for like 40 bucks. So total 140 if you don't have an eprom with dsm chip. So why the 95 ecu? Thanks though for the help.

He was quoting your question and since your profile lists a 97 GSX, he suggested a 95 eprom ecu with a dsmchips eprom as the cheapest and most effective way to go to get a 2 stage rev limit. Anyone with a 1g should of course use a 1g eprom ecu, unless they were looking to use DSMLink.

Well if he would have actually read just my very first post he would have read that it was for a 1g. Even the title says for a 1g. I even put the little 1g picture on the side. Come on dude thats no excuse.

Ok, most likely a dumb question here, but humor me please :)

The Stutterbox feature on these chips, i'm making an assumption (yes i know what that tends to do) that it's only active if you have a manual tranny. If so, how, if at all, does it effect an automatic?

Jeff :)

Wont work with an Auto. You also dont need it in an auto becasue you can hold it against the converter and build boost.
