I took the pan off and the gasket came right off too, but when I went to take the filter off it didn't want to come off as easily as other filters I've changed. I moved it back and forth for a couple minutes still trying to pull it off, but it seemed stuck.
I guess I put to much force into it because the filter snapped at the tube leading into the transmission :thumbdown So now the filter itself is off but the tube remains attached to the trans.
I took a pair of pliers and tried loosening the tube and pulling, but it seems to be stuck.
What should I try next, I need to get this done ASAP because it's my ride to/from work.
thanks

Ok, what type of car are you working on?

sorry, it was a 1995 Riviera. I ended up breaking the piece of the filter inside the valve body into two smaller pieces and sliding them out. I couldn't get the O-Ring out though so I put the new filter on with the old o-ring still in. I went on vacation the day after, but since i've been driving it hasn't leaked and the fluid looks good.
