I'm going to have my struts done soon, and my mechanic was telling me I should replace the strut mounts while I was at it. I have 2 questions on this:

a) Was he just blowing smoke trying to get me to approve more work, or should they really be done on a 93 w/ 134k?

b) If so, where's the best place to get them? I saw KYB brand mounts on tirerack for 50 bucks each. Is this about what I should expect to pay? It seems like so much for 2 pieces of rubber.

first thing.. the mount isnt just the rubber.. its the whole top part of the strut.. it rotates when you turn your wheels... so i say if it is going to be all torn apart you might as well as long as you have the money.. but usually i dont tell people to replace them unless they are binding..

here is the story look at the mounts with the hood up see if the rubber is destroyed thats the rubber in the center by the nut. if that is fine next inspection is to check the sealed bearing inside to make sure there is not a lot of play in it and that it still spins freely. if you are a street driver you will be fine with normal ones if what i said above is fine. but track racer you should always replace them with struts

KYB mounts are the way to go. I got mine at coximport.com! The mounts have not so much as given me a squeaks worth of problems. Great prices and great service. Ask for Phillip and he will hook you up!
