Strut Bars [Merged]

speaking of Struts...... are some struts better then the next?? is that one you bought nice looking?

I got mine off Ebay and I think it looks pretty snazzy. I can't really tell a difference but I leave it on because it's "cool"

As many other threads will explain, it's the owners who claim more-expensive strut tower braces work better. They're mistaken.

But since the arguments are already simmering in those, we'll close this one.

hey guys i've found about a bijillion strut bars on ebay...newhere from 2 to 50 bucks. i've been reading on here about purchasing the cheaper ones just because their all the same pretty much? are ne of them different from others. should i look for one that says made specifically for dsm turbo models? ne1 know of where i could get a cheap red one? thanks for the help!

I have a 99 GS n/t and I'm wondering if it matters if I buy the strut bars for a 99 gst or do I have to buy strictly for the GS ? Also I have an air ride kit and ST sway bars ( front and rear ) do you think I need a front strut brace and rear brace ? I shouldn't need the lower bars right ? Does anyone know a good brand to go with.... any sites that have em cheap ??? Thanks

the strut bars that I put in my car helped greatly, they really tightened it up in corners. The rear bar doesn't matter, but I've seen front bars that were specifically for N/T or turbo cars. I got mine on Ebay, $45 shipped for both. No complaints about them so far.

the brackets are different because the battery is on opposite sides. it doesn't matter really, you can just cut them out as needed to go around the battery tie down.

I think they help in handling, i noticed when i put my on. But, they're cheap...you get what you pay for. If you spend 100 dollars, you're going to get a much stronger metal and when you push and pull on it it wont bend, unlike these ebay ones. I have an ebay one, it will move around just a little bit, but you can definitely tell a difference in price if you had one made by lets say cusco.

But overall, you want something cheap that does something? then i would go with it, unless you're hardcore autox and want to have a rigid body, then spend more.

what i did with mine was very loosely bolt it on the two strut bolts on each side of the strut tower and then turn the strut tower brace to push outwards until its really tight then tighten the bolts on the strut tower (the strut tower brace has a reverse thread turnbuckle style of threads)that way theres no slop in the mount if that makes sense

I shot a used but nice strut bar for my Eclipse, but I don't know what brand it is. Maybe you can tell me what I've bought. The previous owner didn't know it either and I can't find something similar on ebay.

That's just your generic crappy $20 bar. If you want a functional one get the DC Sport bar.

Cool, thanks. I guessed as much but couldn't find something similar.

Yeah, I would have bought the DC Sports strut bar, but it's hard and pricey to get over here.

I got a DC one and its great. I had one on my old 98RS also. It is bigger than the GS-T GS-X bars. It has I think two bars running across. I stood on it, then hopped on it, then put it in the car. Very strong and worth the money. I could tell a difference after I put it on.
