Ok here's the deal. I'm running a PTE 5031bb. Because it's a BB turbo i have to run a restrictor that goes in between the oil feed lines and the turbo itself. It was leaking alittle oil right where the restrictor screws into the turbo so i went to give it another 1/4 to 1/2 turn to tighten it up alittle. Well wouldn't ya know it, it strips. Now the restrictor is fine. If it was the restricor i wouldn't be asking for help here. The threads inside the turbo have now stripped.
What would you guys recommend i do here. I don't see retapping as an option. If some shaving got in the bearing housing it would probably be toasted on the first run. JB Weld doesn't have a high enough temperature threshold that it would hold up right underneath the manifold. So this leaves me with the thought of welding the restrictor in place.
Can anyone see any bad side effects from this? Are there any other options that you can think of short of taking it off and shipping it to some one that is qualified to disassemble the center section and then re-tap it?
