I have a 99 gst fwd and I’m am looking for some street / track tires. I’m thinking about going to the track about once every 2 months. Right know I have some bad tires that don’t have much tire left in it. My launch is very bad also too much tire spinning and I hop way too much also. Any suggestion on how to get better on my launch would be appreciated. In first gear at 5000 rpm tires start spinning very easy. Were I live it gets very wet and slippery because I live out in the middle of nowhere. My budget is around 500 for all of the tires. Also I have some light that I want to light up when I open the door and close it to turn off right know I have then on cig lighter but I have to turn head light on for them to work any ides.

Would at least take a look at the recently released Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 which is Michelin's latest Ultra High Performance All-Season Tire. I believe it was just released around the July timeframe. With a little research online you'll see that it has been getting pretty much rave reviews, though I don't know how many folks are using it for drag racing versus road racing and/or autocross. Apparently they mastered a new process for embedding more silica into the tire and have produced a pretty high performance tire with good wear rating. Price is pretty reasonable depending on what size tires you're running. May be pushing your budget a bit, but the upside is that they're pretty impressive all-season performance with a 500 treadwear rating and 45,000 mile warranty... though I imagine drag racing voids that warranty! :)

thanks ill check both of them out and all i really need is tires that turn good and that make fwd get a good launch

One more questions anyone? Wheel hop why is it caused? The engine mounts were all replaced not too long ago for aftermarket ones. When I got the car it never did that but today it did and when I switch in two second fast it dose it usually. A couple of my joints that are in the arms are broken can this be the problem? What can I do to find out exactly what is the problem? when i first got the car i did my first ever burnout and it hopped so it been there for a while just dosent do it all the time

My civic use to hop like that. I was cheap and spent 45 bucks on an engine damper. Best 45 bucks ever. Made my car shift so smooth and eliminated the wheel hop completely.

Don't cheap out bro. Us fwd guys have to do it right for it to last. I'll definitely get some poly mounts and then some solid rolls stops for the front and rear mounts. Would definitely take care of most if not all wheel hop at your current power level. Then as for tires, since you'll only need two, I would get some drag radials and call it a day since you'll be driving on the streets. I have some hoosier drags and they are great. My current project is 700+fwhp and I'm paying very close attention to wheel hop and tires. After this I'll be going for 800-1000 fwhp or whatever it takes to go 8 sec then 7 sec. It is a lot of work to get the car to hook at any power level depending on seat time. The more you practice the better you'll get. What tires did you have in mind? Are you able to chuck out a few more bucks to get some mounts? If you can get a good deal on some wheels/ties you'll be able to get the mounts within that 500 budget. If you got stock 16s then it's even better because you won't need rims, just tires. Hope you find what your looking for bro. I know how it feels to be fwd LOL.

Good luck, God Bless

For the strip youll need at least drag radials. I went from a 14.4 to a 13.6 with just old used BFg drags...but the hooisers are where its at if you racing much...... Your never gonna hook up on street radials.

I need them
To last also for the street. I been researching about engine damper and they don't make them for our car or i cant find any i have free access to a machine shop from my school i can build mounts for the damper any ideas

Check these out. They do make a dap near pulley. As for the prothane mounts, the ones that really matter are the front and rear. You can fab up some solid steel or aluminum ones and weld it directly to the mount for best results. I know a guy that would do it. He's doing mine as we speak. I have a set of BFG R1s that has done me good at the track. They aren't good on the street though. It sprinkled one say and I was going 15mpg around a bend to get on the freeway and spun out two and a half turns. You can get some solid shifter base and line bushings as well.

Hoosier 17320 Hoosier D.O.T. Drag Radials - Free Shipping on All Orders @ JEGS. These are the tires I have as of now. They are DOT and like pip said they will wear faster on the street then regular tires. With the winter coming I build definitely have a second set atleast for the front. You can keep your rear tires as they are now.

I havent found a good tire i been looking and cant find on i want a tire that is goin to last on street good on turns and a good lanch? plane street tires only for around 500 i heard snow tires?

Snow tires work well on the track. Very sticky for a street tire and a nice soft side wall for better launches and 60's, however I wouldn't ride them on the street in anything but cold winter weather. The compounds are to soft for warm weather and will wear extremely fast.

Yea snow tires work ok but they dont last long... You want a long lasting sticky tire which isn't gonna happen..drag radials will be your best bet as hoosier dot drags dont like the turns..

Also I have some light that I want to light up when I open the door and close it to turn off right know I have then on cig lighter but I have to turn head light on for them to work any ides.

did you try connecting to the floor light bulb? that one lights up when you open the door
