Basic information about the car, 120k miles, automatic, GSX, stock except muffler. Under hard acceleration and above the middle line in positive boost the exhaust gets extremely loud, almost like a jet engine or something. I just got the muffler changed out to a generic canister style, went down to a muffler shop and they welded it on in about twenty minutes. Before this I had no problems and everything worked fine, no crazy sounds or anything, but now this happens, any help would be much appreciated.

well the reason it is loud as hell is that you do not have any mods to the exhaust except the muffler. My guess is that you are having insane back pressure which is being amped my your fart can.

Best bet is to either get a nice cat back system or full exhaust.

Stock exhaust sucks.

Just put a full 3in RNR system on mine. KICKS ASS!

Granted a generic can isnt going to sound or perform as stellar as a full ehaust system I wasn't expecting this. I dont think that its just a poor sounding muffler. When I put my car in park or nuetral and rev the engine up without the turbo spooling it sounds fine, but under heavy boost I get that wierd blowing sound. Maybe im just being paranoid but I don't think its the exhaust, but I still dont know exactly what it is. Am I leaking boost, seeing as how this sound only acts up under high boost, and how could I check for that without an aftermarket boost gauge. Thanks again for all the help, and if it isn't painfully obvious im new here and with cars in general.
