I ran completely over a curb going about 10mph. Now I'm having some noises from the front end. To me it kind of sounds like a grinding noise or something? It only really does it when I'm turning. The car doesn't pull to one side or anything. What could it be? Could an alignment fix the problem? Thanks.

FIrst, what were you doing?! Second if the car doesn't pull any direction why waste your money on an alignment? Lastly have you got the car up in the air to take a look at it? Might be a broke shock or something, could be lots of things. Jack the car up and take a look.

I took it to Les Schwab and they told me the Left lower control arm was worn and causing the noises. Nothing is bent. $177 dollars to fix. Does this sound right? I just want to verify it with you guys before I take further action.

Stay away from curbs man, Your car is WAY to low to try some offroad shit. WTF

Yea probably the ball joint, i have the same thing actually expect mine just died, i didnt run over anything. But its only gonna cost me 40 bucks to fix, im doing it myself, with the help of my best friends father who is a mechanic.

Well after more research I found there was a recall on that part, but my dealer won't honor the recall due to it being looked at in 2001. Can we say bullshit!

try another dealer I had a dodge avenger (uses same control arms) and chrysler has a life time recall on that control arm and will replace them any time. I my was one orginaly replaced back in 2000 when I bought the car in 2002 they lasted to 2003 and then had them changed again.

It's pretty obviously that no noise was evident before you went dove into that curb at that speed. Bet you aggrivated that worn control arm when you hit it.

That's a pretty hard hit in itself and that's the right price to replace a lower control arm from Schwab's - which including alignment since they gotta realign the front end after tearing it apart.

Oughta forget doing something legal with a 11yr old car, esp if the dealer has already done the recall in '01...and hitting curbs is called abuse in their eyes anywho which will void that all out anywhos.

So if I was to do this myself, which one of these should I get? The guy at Les Schwab gave me part number #MR296295... I see that # on the Dorman arm. Are those supposed to be direct OE replacements while the spicer, mevotech, and moog's are aftermarket?
