Is there any thoughts on removing the cat and running straight pipes!

Isnt there any oxygen sensor that is ran after the cat, and wouldnt removing the cat screw up the reading and possibly affect performance?
It will kick a check engine light for cat deficiencies. But otherwise, it doesn't affect anything.
It is technically illegal under federal law to remove the cat. Just FYI.[/QUO
Yea I know no emissions test here so not too worried.
