Store new motor in cold weather?

I just got my motor back from the machine shop with new pistons/rods etc, also got a new turbo with 0 km's on both.

Sould it be fine to put in the motor in cold weather cuz of the new parts or should I wait for better weather?

I would not leave the block exposed to the weather. Keep in inside somewhere at least (like in your garage). Temperature does not matter, it is moisture and humidity you have to worry about (which will corode all of your parts).

i dont know why you would even consider leaving it outside. If it s covered (under a carport or something) cover it well with a couple of blankets and a tarp over it all.

I'm from Jersey and i rebuilt my motor couple month back. I actually got big garbage bags and seal it up tight it and left inside the garage. Put garbage bag and make sure you tape the end so no air goes in and put the second one on and seal them again. Like what sonicnofadz said "it is moisture and humidity you have to worry about" So i would seal them up with garbage bags and put lot of news paper since it will get rid of some moisture.

Just bring it in your house wont hurt anyone, I wouldnt leave it outside. Find a closet or somthing and just make room for it. Im not saying its going to get anybit damaged but, treat it as a baby we all love our dsms, now would you leave a fresh baby born child outside?????? I THINK NOT

Well it is my baby

I guess i should leave it in a room here to keep it warm. Also I should get the tranny ready too with a nice power washer and some high heat paint.

Once it gets warm outside the 4g63T elantra should have life again...

You can leave it in a garage. Just make sure the cylinder walls are wiped down with wd-40, along with wd-40 or some other lubrication on the crank and rods and you wont have any problems. The main concern is that a motor is assembled in a nice dry warm place, it can be stored in the garage as long as u do the following above.

The temperature range between the Mojave and Fairbanks is trivial to an engine. Go ahead and install it and start using it.
