Stock Turbo?

I bought a 93 eclipse n/t for basically nothing. Had hell with it. Replaced A TONNN of stuff on it for it just to spin a rod bearing. But its the best spun rod bearing I couldve asked for. Ended up buying a 1992 Eagle Talon TSI FWD for a GREAT price. I love it even more then i thought. Been driving trucks my whole life, still own a very clean 1999 dodge 4x4, but i really love this car.

The dude i bought it from didnt know much about it, and neither do as far as the turbo goes. He said it was all stock, but its been having a misfire he cant figure out and been dying at idle. Turns out he never gapped the brand new NGK's he put in, they were all at about .010 and i could tell it was probably the IAC making the car die at idle. And since thats one of the very many things i JUST replaced on that 93, i switched it over. Everything runs great now. Except 2nd gear is going out.

The car is much faster then i thought it would be being stock. Looking at the turbo, though, it says TD05H and from what I understand thats not a stock turbo?

Also was going to pull that transmission from the 93, since its also one of the many things i replaced on my 93 with a rebuilt one, but wasnt sure if this in fact is a larger turbo will a stock N/T transmission be suffecient for the turbo?

Dont wanna waste my time in swapping them to just blow the rebuilt one up.
I figured i'd ask yall know it alls!

TD04H should be the stock turbo for a 93. If the cars both have the same engine just one is n\t and the other turbo I would say you would be fine swapping them over. It would hold the power just fine as long as you don't use the n\t clutch setup.

Stock trans may may not depends on some things, sounds like a stock turbo.

You most likely have the stock turbo. Even the 14b will feel fast if you've been used to the n/t. TD05 could mean the 14b or any 16g so look up the serial number on the turbo or even take a quick look if it has the "double" blades or singles.

Actually the TD04 is the 13g found on 1g auto cars, if his turbo is TD05, its probably the stock 5spd 14b.

The n/t transmission may hold for some time, but for sure not long or after you start increasing power. There's an obvious reason they have different transmissions.

Ah thanks for that. and bout tranny he didn't mention any build plans\ideas so I was saying it would be fine for stock condition. So he wouldn't be wasting time to fix his 2nd gear problem.

Again, the trans may hold up or may not. Could just drive it until it breaks we cant tell you about how long it may last stock or not. The internals could be bad already,or already on the way out. Gonna have to find out down the road.

Is it an auto or manual? If auto do line pressure mod and I'll bet it won't slip for some time.

Sry its a 5 speed, but thank y'all for the input. The 92 obviously has the 6 bolt while the 93 is a 1g 7 bolt. Is that a problem in the trans swap? Wouldn't think so but wanna make sure
