I was looking into buying some tires and the guy told me i need V rated tires. I thought he was full of it, so i thought i would check here. What is the speed rating that came on the stock tires?

It will say right on there somewhere, what kind of tire's are they? Should be M or N rated tires. You don't need V tires. V tires are for in excess of 210mph. You can get by with some VR's or even less. VR's are rated for 168mph which your car will never see anyways. Look for some with an M or N rating. That is for between 130-140mph which unless you are at the track in a HIGHLY modded car you should never go that fast anyways. VR is the most popular I beleive with lo-pro tire's. Stock tires you can get by with a lower rating.

V rated and up is always a good choice. Stock turbos tire ratings from the factory were different. Don't quote me on this but I read somewhere that gst's came with a lower rated tire which is why it had a speed governer, the gsx on the other hand came with very high rated tires hence the no governer. That is what I have heard but I have never had a dsm expert back it up. It will be nice to see what they say if they read this. :thumb:

I remember now. You are right. The GS-T's came with an H-rated tires, which is why the speed governor is set at 130 MPH. I think i am going to be going with the Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread tire. I need something that can get me around in the snow. It also has an 80,000 mile warranty.

The stock tires are rated at "H" for up to 130mph, "V" rated is up to 149mph, a "Z" rated tire has unlimited speed rating, or speeds in excess of 149 mph.............

which always makes me laugh when ricers pay hundreds of dollars more for Z rated tires.
