Just installed a Boost Gauge and i was wondering what is the peak PSI on a stock 99 GS-X. Did a search and it is suppose to be around 13 PSI?

i have a 97 n/t, i am looking to buy a 96 gsx, i already have someone who is going to sell me the car. My question is what is the stock psi that it pushes? Whats the most u can get out of stock internals and what supporting mods should u have before u push it to a not extreme but good level?

Something like this:
BOV
Boost Controller
3" Exhaust (str8 pipes that removes cat but bolts up to what?)
Intake w/ K&N Filter

I wouldn't have it at 14.5 w/o a few upgrades...I would keep it as it came until you do some upgrades.

So what is the stock peak PSI?

I read several places it came stock at 11...

You can prolly crank it up but I would just wait to do the BOV and intake...at least. More accurate and better performance

:talon: I heard that you shouldn't go cranking it up unless you are useing a race octane fuel. I have a 90 tsi awd 5/sp. and am going with the GM blow-by in the ICP with non-MAS intake and K&N (or HKS SHF), but any ways I have a boost guage and controller not installed. should I be able to do 14psi. on race gasoline? ( I also have walbro 190lph, also not installed)

I know i have a 1g and a stock maybe innaccurate boost guage but it always reads 14psi...as high as the guage goes when i gun it.

According to the dealer manual the stock psi is at 11.1..

In a 1g dont go above 16 psi unless u do fuel system upgrades. And that on 91 octane pump gas. If you used race gas I may go as high as 20 if its for dragging so long as you let the car cool for 30 mins between runs. So i hear

holy thread hijacking batman. Don't hijack in the tech sections start a new thread ;)

On the original subject. They didn't pay that much attention to it to be serious. They just have stuff about where it should be then hook it all up and use the screw in ht emaf to make it all work. This is why the screw is different for them all. The service limit I believe was set at 14.7 psi...donno why but that was the design spec for parts as best as i can tell. Realistically anything from 8.5-14 can be expected and changes based on the car.

Ive seen my PSI peak at around 15. Isnt that kinda high?

My car will not make more than 13psi, becasue the stock BOV leaks at that psi, so no matter the stock rating, depending on the condition of the stock BOV 13 is about the most you can make.
