anyone use one of those aftermarket tops. were you cut the top off factory regulator and install adjustable cup. my question would be, can they bump pressure to 4 bar?

better yet. can factory regulator be crushed to 4bar pressure?

even if it could be crushed that far i do not think i would trust it.

you might check out the spa turbo vlrpf270 it is a rail mount adjustable regulator that looks similar to the oem one. and the spa turbo regulators actually get good reviews. I have been eyeing one myself.

they are designed to. I remember them from 20 years ago. they got a bad rap because people bought to use with big fuel pumps that have over run at idle. obliviously they dont change size of internal return of stock regulator. but people arent very smart when it comes to modding their car.

i would think crushing it would slightly alter its rising rate, but not enough i would be concerned. honestly i have contemplated crushing them and i have a spare and a press i have mocked up a couple times but never actually gone through with it. i would try just a simple crush before that ebay piece, i am sure you are capable of engineering that thing to not leak, but i would recommend the average tuner avoid those things.

let us no how it goes.

that would be my concern as well. but if you ever open a factory regulator the return hole is absolutely tiny. I would think you would only need about .010 of spring travel to maintain its flow potential. I am only using evo x fuel pump with 550-650 injectors. there wont be much fuel to bypass from my calculations.

doing it to make small injectors bigger. and for the better atomization of fuel. modern bosch injectors can run at 120psi. I dont think there is an injector that wont work at 90 psi. the pump i am using flows 150lt/hr at 90 psi. plenty of fuel for 350whp.

my secondary fuel pump/injectors will supply enough fuel for another 175whp. well enough to reach my 500whp turbo potential.

if you want to read about the system I like to run you can read about it here:

Crushing it won't change the rate. I uncrimped one and welded a nut on the end, to make what your asking about. I put a nickle under the spring for the bolt to push against. Worked really really well.

I did the same thing jerry is doing, so I could run E85 on 450's with a stock computer.

I've been using a b&m style one for years with no issues. I am able to adjust fuel pressure up and down easily. What I used in my last gst setup and plan to use it again. Ran it with a rewired 255 and 850's at stock pressure. Before that I had 550's and pressure bumped up to like 50. I also ran a electric fuel pressure gauge to keep a eye on things.

...

i see what you are doing, i was assuming a build a lot more inline with the normal 'newbie forum' stuff. i should have known better from you though.
