i have the stock bov and want to know if you can hear it? i can hear the turbo spool up and it sounds like it could even be hissing like a leak... but if i let off the gas it doesnt sound like a woosh? i know it wouldnt be loud cuz it recirculates but shouldnt i hear something? or do i need to push in the clutch to idle the engine? hmm now that i think about it i would have to clutch to idle to hear it wouldnt i? haha my first turbo

so if i just let off the gas and coast will it blow off? or do i have to clutch? hmm i guess i will boost and then shift but i dont notice it ever.

as long as you let off the gas whether it be to shift or just to slow down it will "blow off". The whole reason why your stock one doesnt make too much noise is becasue rubber(the material your recirculate tube and intake are made of) doesnt resonate sound, in fact one of the reasons manufactures use rubber is so the engine will be quiet, well that and cost. Have you ever heard a honda or any car with a stock intake, and then compare that to a car with a aftermarket intake....the sounds resonate better in metal. get a aftermarket intake, and a 1g bov and bam youll have that sound everyone seems to obsess about.

i have a 1g bov. hows about one of them off ebay? LOL i know :barf: but wouldnt it be good enough? atleast as good as stock? and would it need to be a cone filter and just the first main intake pipe or duct or like the intercooler pipes too? and how do people just sit and rev and have it blow off? do they have autos doing brake torque or riding the clutch or what? i thought it wont boost under a no load condition and if it doesnt boost how could it blow? and is the wastegate like the blow off but its just like the limiter and not a end release?

ebay intakes are perfectly fine. its just a metal pipe basically so no need to spend a bunch on an injen or anything like that

If you want to know what a turbo is all about get a TurboXS RAFL BOV! I have had other BOV'S but this is the best will ever have! When you let off the gas or shift you will notice this BOV! Let me explain it a little better. I have my car boostin at 14 psi and if you open my hood, stick your head under my hood and let me rev up to 5000 rpm. When the BOV sounds your ears will be ringing for a long time! Get a TurboXS!!!

Yeah especially if you love shitty gas mileage and the "quirks" that come from driving vented. I don't know about you guys but I love shortening the life of my spark plugs.

Sorry I didnt realize your a 1g, just get an intake kit from ebay. Yes they are the same stuff from other companies, and will work just fine. Dont boost at dle its pointless and putss un needed stress, and is a waste of time and gas. drive your car normal and call it a day....trust me when I say the whole " wow I have a turbo" and the want to do the "turbo salute" to every driver wears off. Dont get me wrong I love my car and wouldnbt mod anything else....

i think the loudest you can get the stock bov is in a 3rd gear pull, just wait till you get full boost and let of the gas fast, no need to push in the clutch either. Mine is definatley noticable , even over my loud exhaust, and all i have done is taken the air filter box off.

If you still have the stock intake box and stock exhaust, you will BARELY hear it.

You put an aftermarket intake on there, and it will come to life. :thumb:

where is a good place for a 1G turbo intake?

if you use a blowthrough setup u can make ur own out of stainless steel piping, and a K&N filter, like all the guys with 600hp supras do, it looks awesome, and you will definitely hear ur BOV, as it is vented, 1G BOVs sound awesome vented

When i bought my 1g gsx the previous owner had already installed an HKS Super flow intake and even with the BOV routed back to the intake, any boost at all and u let off the gas u can hear it on mine. That is of course with a 1g stock BOV the 2g BOV are plastic.

I think its better routed back to the intake not only because my idle is the worst thing u've ever seen in ur life my BOV leaks when vacuuming so my idle pulses from 800 rpms to about 1500 rpms and its just really annoying, but also because when u have it vented the 1g stock bov makes a "swooosh" sound which isnt as appealing to me as the sort of whistle that it makes when its routed back.

ok for the first time today i actually heard it. and i didnt upgrade anything either. it was a windy day and i was driving with the wind and the windows down and i heard it every shift. that is quiet LOL. and ytf is there like 2 turbo intakes on ebay, and for $100+?
