hehe kinda dumb question but whats stock boost on my car? just wondering if its worth it to install a boost controller and gauge without bov thats all. thanx

11 psi...

After I installed the boost controller I turned it up to about 15-what a difference 4 psi makes...now it's time for supporting mods to get it up a bit more.

You running 15psi with no supporting mods?

Actually it spikes to about 15, then goes down to 14. I also have an EGT gauge and it doesn't shows about 1400 or so when I do this at WOT. I am planning on getting DSMLink soon with the money that I'm getting back from taxes. Do you think that I should turn the boost down a bit more?

You will still get a variety of answers. Not all boost guages are completely accurate. More so than the stock one, yes, but to say for sure you need better than most Autometer guages which is what most people have. Mine, stock, was 11PSI.:D
I've heard from a bunch of people that autometer gauges are inaccurate. Got any other inexpensive recommendations?

autometer gauges are good quality for the price but stewart warner gauges are about the same price and also good quality.

11psi on an autometer Ultra-Lite, before installation of the MBC. Now running ~15psi w/MBC, with occasional surge to 17 on a 3" mandrel SS O2-back.

my car is still somewhere between 10-12lbs I think, stock gauge can't really tell, does turning up the boost to 15lbs really make a big difference, cause my car has a small 16g so shouldn't the results be even better than a 14b, because I raced a friend of mine, and he had his 14b turned up to 14-15lbs and I'm running stock boost, and top end I left him by 3-4 cars! BTW turning up the boost to 15lbs on a stock fuel pump and injectors is fine right, no higher than 16lbs though right?

Did i read right? you said yours is going to about 10-12 psi on the stock gauge? I dont know if i read that right but anyway on my stock gauge i can peg it out pretty quickly. Havnt even raised the boost just pulled the restricter. Anyone else peg the stocker on stock boost?

yeah, the gauge reads all the way to 14lbs, but I think i'm only pulling anywhere from 10-12lbs, maybe 14lbs on a hard second gear pull, because I do have a 3inch turboback exhaust so i'm sure the boost went up a little.

Sure you can run 15 psi with no supporting mods. Only thing I recommend is getting your stock fuel pump rewired. At 15 psi, 450's are around 90% IDC which isn't too bad, its good to stay around 80%. I know a few 1g guys running only 9 psi when they were stock. The 2G DSM's run 12 psi stock while the 1G's are suppose to run around 10 psi stock, I guess boost varies with ambient temperatures and how the car feels at the time LOL.

i bought a mbc for my stock 98 gst. I was told not to go over 13-14 pounds. I put a boost gauge on it today, and it already has 13 pounds dead on. Can i add a little more, or did i waste my money?

Well, stock boost on a 97-99 GS-T I've seen range from 10-12 PSI. Buying a boost gauge, or mbc imo is NOT a waste of money, especially if you plan to delve deeper into the mod game. However, on the T-25 I wouldn't go over 15 psi, and even that may be a stretch.

yes I've seen 10-13 on 2g GST's mine runs 12 stock. The general consensus is not over 16 stock, but I say 15 to be safe until you can monitor things better.

I believed before i started playing with my gst it was at 12psi dead on, now ive gone and messed with things and it hits 14psi and sometimes touches 15.
Imo this is way to much for that t25. Once my mbc comes in im probably going to set it at 13 or 12

What is the stock boost for a 90 laser? Did a search but i must be stupid because i didnt find anything on it.
