hehe kinda dumb question but whats stock boost on my car? just wondering if its worth it to install a boost controller and gauge without bov thats all. thanx

Does he have the BCS hooked up? If he's running the vacuum line straight from the compressor outlet to the wastegate, that'll cause low boost.

If he got the car recently, that's a tell-tale sign that the previous owner had an MBC installed.

From what I have learned stock is set at 8 psi, but will sometimes spike to 11-12 psi then drop back down to 8 psi

i know manuals tell all the specs of everything and all. just wish that the boost setting was one of them. and don't think it is. seems it's split on this one here. hmmm.....wish there was a definate answer on this one. 8 just doesn't sound right though. not to me anyway.

Completely agreed :thumb: Check BCS vacuum lines for proper hook-up and if that doesn't help chk the BCS and knock sensor.

The BCS issue and low boost should be a sticky thread -- this is the 5th time in 3 days I'm responding about the low boost/BCS situation. The BCS limits boost to between 5-7 lbs when knock sensor tells it to when real or phantom knock is detected. That's its job. If you're stuck at a precise low level that's between 5-7 lbs and it desn't change for better or worse over time I'd suspect the BCS. (If your exhaust isn't stock boost creep could pull it to like 8 lbs or higher) The BCS can also malfunction and cause the low boost problem. This is according to Ckilton for 1g cars. When boost is steady at between 5-8 lbs with no other signs of trouble it would be wise to check out your BCS situation.

Stock boost shouldn't vary between cars of the same model year and 1g's shouldn't vary between 1g's and the same for 2g's.

The 1g M/T cars should be approx. 11 lbs while the 1g A/T cars are approx 10 lbs.

The 2g's should be the same whether M/T or A/T and boost was a hair higher than the 1g's I believe but not much -- I remember seeing an ad when the 2g's 1st came out and it said 11.1 lbs of boost.

goto the tuning guide section...under there you'll find a free mod section...pretty much you remove some stuff from the MAF, open up the filter, remove a small piece from the bcs to increase the boost a little...just read up on it

uhh.. 10-12?...... pretty much for that t-25 yup. Boost 14 daily though if you remove the resovoir? (spelling?)........ hehehhee

well i consider my car pretty much stock.

I've got a hallman pro mbc installed and it is turned as loose as possible. Having said that, I boost 14psi all day . . . as long as im within 2600-5500rpm. Damn t-25

Mine ran 12psi until i got a high flow filter then it would peak at 14psi. After all of my mods i had it set at 15psi with my MBC. It pushes 15psi until around about 5500rpms and then it drops off. I have a 14b turbo that i might install this summer. Also i just got my new thermal catback on and my clutch and flywheel are going in at the end of the month so then i wil be able to put down some more power.

hey i know this might seem like a dumb question to some people. but i was reading in the upgrade path and it has a bov then a boost control. i am following the path and i have all the way up to the downpipe. but i dont have ic piping which is like 11 or 10. my question is can i turn up the boost with the stock piping and an aftermarket blow off valve

i put a b/c on my 1g and turned the boost up to 16psi (ran 10 stock). 2g i/c piping has a larger inner diameter than 1g. so yes you can.

oh man, my bad, i always thought 2g piping was bigger because of the tb elbow being bigger. unless you are talking about the lower ic piping. :laser:

ya the stock pipes are bigger on the 2g's, but they get really small when going through the bumber. the 1g pipes can be run to 12 sec passes, im sure it is possible for the 2g but not many do, just for the fact that it gets all small when goin to the intercooler, under the air filter.

that is true, i would get the hardpipe ic tubing just to make sure, you never know when sh!t is gonna happen.

I have a FIPK, a Greddy Type-S BOV, and a Injen knockoff hard e-bay pipe (I know I know... no gains from that thing) and i'm peaking at 14 psi.

i got stock motor with 55k miles,
strong engine, i have the evo 16g, intake, 3inch exh, 3inch downpipe, ported evo o2, manifold, and soon to get 660 injectors, ems, greddy 24r.

how much boost should the motor handle without being built up and this is runnning the pump 91 octane.
