Ok, recently i had a thread about leaking boost out of the 4 emissions ports coming out from the intake manifold. Everyone said to cap off the 4 ports after removing the vacuum lines. Ok so i did that, and my autometer gauge still reads a max boost of about 7psi at 4-5k rpms. Although the stock gauge still goes up to 14. I put the vacuum lines back in and it read normally again. The car actually did not feel any slower than it normally did when the autometer gauge read 7 psi.

Also, this is a bit of a different topic from above but i've noticed when the engine is still warming up, i notice the turbo spools quicker. At 2.5k in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear i'll hit about 7 psi and it spools up quicker as it keeps going and i'll hit full boost at about 3.3k. After the car is fully warmed up, ill get about 4-5 psi in the same gears/rpms and then it'll just kinda lag after 5, and hit about 2-3 more psi at 3k and eventually hit full boost at 4-5k. I'm sure it's probably just a leak, but why is it so dramatically different in different weather conditions. The car feels like it should feel in cold weather.
 
You shouldn't be boosting your car when it isn't up to full operating temperature. Just so you know. I'd do a boost leak test with some soapy water and see where that gets you.

yeah i know i shouldn't but i did it just for testing purposes and i didn't boost right after a cold start, i let it warm up quite a bit before it tested it. I know i have a leak, i'm just wondering why it's so dramatically different in colder weather.

An answer to the first question would also help me out. Thanks.
 
Because as air get's colder it get's thinner. Just like when you go up in altitude. You get colder and the air is thinner so your boost leak hasn't had a chance to have hot air going through it so it can possibly expand and close shut if it is in your IC piping or something like that. Where is your boost gauge connected? To the FPR or not?

Actually, it's quite the opposite. Colder air is much more dense and packs a higher concentration of oxygen (at equivalent elevation) to warmer air. That's why forced induction functions best in cold weather. More oxygen demands more fuel which reates more horsepower.

it's connected to the fpr. Thanks for the explanations. Now how about the 4 ports on the throttle body question?
 
Go check out vfaq.com and look to see where they recommend to hook up the boost gauge. I'd tell you exactly where, but I might confuse you. It'd be best to read it yourself.

I already know where the best place to hook up the gauge is...the fpr. I know you're trying to help and sorry if i sound like an ass as its almost 4 am here, but the best place to hook up the gauge was not my question.
 
What did you do with the other ends of the vacuum lines? I don't plan on removing my emissions, so I can't really tell you what needs plugged. Check on that.

I bet that's your problem right there. I'd research what you're supposed to do with the other lines before you do it next time. :)
 
If i remove all the hoses..i have to plug up all the nipples the other end of the hoses are coming from right? In the tech guide it just says remove them, so i assumed it meant to just remove it from the 4 ports, not remove it all together.
