Still smoking bad

1990 Tsi awd:
The engine was smoking bad when I revved it up, so I rebuilt the turbo and just put in new piston rings. Yesterday I ran it and it still smokes horrible every time I rev it up. The leak down test I did before indicated that the valves were holding good and the rings were totally shot. I have not done a link down test with the new rings yet.

When it idles, there is no smoke, but then I put my foot about half way on the gas and its just a huge smoke cloud.

So where are the areas oil enters the engine? 1. Turbo 2. Valves 3. Piston rings.

Is there a way to tell when the turbo is passing oil? Because when I put my foot on the gas, it takes a few revs before it really starts blowing smoke.

Could be your head gasket....what color is the smoke?

Definitely do another leak down test and figure out what color the smoke is. Did you seat the rings properly? Use conventional not synthetic oil?

Your PCV valve may be clogged causing excessive oil blow by into your intake?...I don't know what your interpretation of a huge cloud is...so i'm just making a suggestion.

i also did a leak down test and it also said my valves were holding good but the problem was the valve seals meaning theres oil going into the exhaust manifold.

Smoke is blue. Leak down test (before) also showed the valves holding good. Doh!

Car has been sitting (outside) for more than a year.

Yep, I bet you are right. Whoo hoo! Time to take of the timing belt for the 50th time in 4 months!!!
