steering rack play

has anyone else had a steering rack go bad in a 1g? i can feel something shift when i turn, its worse when i turn right so im pretty sure its on the drivers side. ive checked all bolts on the front subframe and all suspension mounts and the bolts on the steering rack. i cant feel play in the steering rod ends, but there is definetly movement somewhere and i think its in the steering rack itself. just wondering if its happened to anyone else before. i know my car has alot of "history" from the previous owners, though it has a clean title.

It's just going to be your tie rod ends. No big deal. Fairly easy to replace if they are your outer, a little more difficult on the inners. With the car on the ground and wheels on of course grab the sides of the wheel and try to wiggle it back and forth. If it moves even the slightest bit your tie rod ends are shot. Run about 12-15 bucks a piece at an auto parts store. Recommend having then profesionally installed because your car will need to be aligned afterwards. Never heard of anyone having a rack and pinion going bad in a 1g but nothing's impossible.
