I have a nice big rust hole right above my rear driver side wheel well. I have looked at options for filling the hole after I clean it but can't figure out the best route. I can't decide if it is better if I go with a shop welding steel to fill the hole for me, getting them to cut the rear quarter off another car and put it on or me doing fiber glass. Any help or links is greatly appreciated.

If anyone needs to know approximate size it is about 2 inches tall by fourish inches wide, not sure if it wraps around into the actual wheel well.

If it's just a relativly small area compared to the size of the panel, your best bet is going to be to have a shop weld a new peice of metal in and then finish off the fill with fiberglass body filler and a touch of bondo. If you just do fiberglass, it will end up cracking eventually. If you put a whole new panel on, it will be a lot more work, and cost you a lot more.

K thanks for your thoughts and opinion, I will clean off the area and bring it to a shop.

make sure to clear the paint away a few inches to see how far the rust actually goes. it would suck to pay to have a new piece welded, just so it can rust again.

Thanks guys, I was going to use a wire brush drill bit and clean it an inch or two back from where the rust stops. Now i just need to find a good body shop around brampton or orangeville here in ontario.

Definitely metal. The repair will last instead of cracking like fiberglass will. If done correctly, the repair will need nothing more than a light coat of glazing putty, and it will be solid as a rock.

The only way to repair rust is with metal. Glass or filler will let moisture in, and let the rust spread more.
