1G Starting to build spare motor.....What do you guys think about a 2.3 stroker?

Ok so I have a few blocks and a bunch of parts ready to go and im starting to think I might want to go with a 100mm crank and go 2.3l. Like they say , no replacement for displacement. All i would need is a 100mm crank and some pistons as they are 6mm shorter? Have any of you run this setup?
 
I plan on running a 2.3l no exp with it yet..... BUT people say the 2.0 are easier on the drivetrain and more rpm but to each their own.

I imagine the extra displacement with help with spool and make power easier...There isn't many options for cranks other than the eagle 100mm. I haven't seen to many oem cranks around
 
They are good for 30r and smaller setups. You gain 500 rpm of spool and lose 1,500+ up top. The 2.3's also destroy the weak 3-4 setup in the trans much faster.
 
2.3 is good for a street car like said. Problem is low redline and a short powerband with large turbos. You need the rpm to carry out the turbos airflow. I always wanted to build a destroker 2.1 and rev to 11k but the cost isnt worth it.
 
I went with a 8.5:1 2.3 and mated it with a hta3582 and fp2 cams. But I'm automatic with a sinister converter. I'm hoping to rev to 8500 if it's still pulling hard. My car is is completely gutted and hoping to turn the scales around 2800 with me in it. I'm hoping to be knocking on 9s door. I don't mind using some nitrous to get there as well. But it's built for it.

Since this is going to be a drag car I often second guess on whether or not I should of went 2.0 LR. I guess that will be my next setup. I've got a oem crank and block and eagle 88mm crank already waiting. Id match that with a s366fmw or 6466 and a set of s3 cams



I'm curious what your setup will do rev'd to 8500-9000 rpm with that new turbo
 
Low rpm torque engine and a loose race converter won't mph very well. The thing with the 2.3 and a decent sized turbo is that it will keep pulling, meanwhile the pistons and bores are getting beat to hell.

I ran a 2.3 auto setup, I kept it at an 8,000 rpm limiter. For anything that isn't a streetcar, and wants to run faster than 10's the 2.0 is a much better option.

I run the 3586htz fp turbo on my 2.0. It makes power past 9,000 rpms.
 
The thought of going 2.3 originally stemmed from the fact bigger cams generally have a harder time building boost on the converter, so building a setup that wanted to live at 9k+rpm seemed kind of contradictory.. now If I'm only trading 500 rpm in redline for more torque, and the ability to build 15+psi off the line; I'll make that trade. The engine was built with a girdle to handle 8-8500.

My 2.3 should hopefully have max boost by 5k and hopefully max power by 6k. I went with an 8" spoolinator to hopefully not be too loose and transfer the power intended for Good mph.

Now I realize that I will be spraying no matter what to bring the car up on the converter and I shouldn't of weighed so heavily on that in my decision, but do not regret. I was hoping to do one of the bigger and more efficient 2.3 setups

Same converter went 138 @ 7800 rpm with a 2.0 and 26" tire. That was with an hx40. My turbo is a .82 t3 3582hta.
