For those of you who have been following my past blogs and have not seen my post in the hangout, my #4 rod bearing spun 800miles after the rebuild. So now it's time to try again.

(carnage pics are at the bottom of the first page)

I'm thinking of this-

A crank from orielly's with bearings to match= $239.00
http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/s...e&year=1995&make=Eagle&model=Talon&vi=1103195

6 bolt rods ready for 7 bolt pistons = $330.00 (190+140core)

I may need a new oil pump but I'll decide that after I see it, so I won't count that in now.

I shouldn't have to get my cylinders bored or anything done to the block because that was all just done. But my question is to get my 7 bolt pistons pressed onto the 6 bolt rods, will my rings have to come off?

So thats the plan as of now. I'm guessing around $800 after all the odds and end stuff to get it going again.

you will have to take rings off and you might as well just get new ones, but i guess old ones will work if you dont break them getting them off

The reason I ask is because the rings are brand new.

like i said, you have to take them off no matter what or they will be damaged when taking the piston off the rod

If you put in new rings the cylinders have to be rehoned so the rings seat properly, I would just use the same rings if they had even good compression. Oh and i don't think they should have to come off.
