starter question

I installed my new clutch and everything seems to (working except for the fact that the starter just sounds like its spinning and doesn't grab the flywheel.. Could this be the starter relay causing the starter not to push the gear out before it spins?

Had the same issue on my N/T. Check your grounds.

make sure you didn't get the FWD flywheel. that could be the problem. Im pretty sure the FWD dlywheel is smaller

Its the same flywheel, I never changed it. Could it be the starter relay?

i doubt it would be the starter relay try turning your engine by hand and if that doesn't work pull your starter and take a pair of jumper cables and hook the power up to the power and the ground where the bolts go then take a wire and run it from your ignition switch on the starter and put it on the positive of the battery if it still doesn't kick out its time to get a new starter

It is a BRAND NEW starter i bought to install with the clutch

+1 on checking the grounds. ive been given bad starters from the parts store a lot. i think im on like starter number six for the talon thank god for the lifetime warranty

we tried jumping it with the cables and it seems like the thing is spinning but the top part thats supposed to push into the flywheel ISNT

that means the solenoid is bad time to go exchange it for a good one

does it make a grinding noise? also is this a 5 speed or auto

its a 5 speed, no grinding just spinning

haha my bad i should have read that a little better. ya if it aint extending out i would try another one. what year car?
