Starter question

I got a 1990 Eclipse GS-T and my question is:

Can i put the starter from 91-94 Eclipse,talon or laser??? Because my local junkyards doesn't have 90 Eclipse,talon,or laser,or i better get the new one from the autozone???

As long as its from a 2.0 DSM.

Yeah as long as its a 2.0, fwd or awd it will work, I work at Advance Auto and its all the same part number. In my experience though a used one is actually the way to go, i return WAY to many defective starters and alternators.

Is the starter will work from an Automatic dsm?

they should be the same, but if yor not sure take your old one down and compare it.

The automatic DSM's Starter has the rubber nipple in the back,and mines doesn't,what is that nipple for? i took it of and there is a round hole in the starter

Today i instaled my starter from the Automatic DSM ,and i got problem now,when i turn the key into the start position the starter it self making horrible sound,it looks like starters teeth doesn't catch together i mean with those teeths inside the engine (

what should i do???

I'm pretty sure automatic and 5-speed starters are different. Of course the only evidence I have to support this is the fact that when I needed a new one they wanted to know if it was a manual or automatic....

I told you this in a private message, but I'm posting it here too for anyone who searches, the starters for a 5 speed manual and automatic are different part numbers in my book at work.(advance auto parts). I wish i could tell you what the difference was but we dint stock the one for the automatic so i can't physically put them side by side. Are you positive the starter is working properly? Take it back out and rig it to a battery and make sure it pops out and spins, sometimes they just don't pop out, they just spin that could cause the problem you are describing. If you have an Advance near by take it to them and they'll test it for free...you might even get lucky and get someone who actually has a clue what they're doing. !

Yeaa i got solved the problem i took out my starter,take off the starter solenoid,put that solenoid on my old starter and it worked perfect ))
