Locke - I meant rebuilding the Miata's motor.

I couldn't tell you - though most stock NA engines can handle a mild amount of boost. I'd recommend you checking out the MX5 forums for more accurate information.

I feel bad for you, having to drive a dodge neon in disguise every day and all but it gets you around.

If I could start all over I would get a clean 89-92 Nissan 240sx. They're cheap, They look great, drive and handle amazing, There's a huge online community and they're very easy to work on. The only downside is the stock motor isn't worth putting any money into but if you swap an SR20DET into the car, you'll be really well off. The motor is very easy to swap in and just bolts in.

Dodge Neon in disguise? Which car do you mean?

He means your eclipse because it is a gs. It has a 420a motor which is also the same motor neon's utilize. Though a common misconception the ka24de found int he 240's are very powerful. Duy ran a 9.1 second pass on it i believe before switching to his 2jz setup and running 8s.

He's insinuating that because 2gNT DSM's share the shortblock and a couple of other pieces with the 1st gen Neon, that somehow the 2gnt is more Neon than DSM. :shrug: It's the kind of ignorance you have to put up with if you decide to keep the NT DSM.

2g's ---- talons and eclipse's are the same or DSM's
eagle talon esi --> 420a motor <-- mitsu eclipse rs, gs
eagle talon tsi --> 4g63 t/c FWD <-- mitsu eclipse gs-t
eagle talon tsi awd --> 4g63 t/c AWD <-- mitsu eclipse gsx

the 420a motor was put into some dodge neons, i cannot remember which years
but its also found in stratus' and avengers.. cars like that

I would recommend a 2g or 1g AWD model but for me, the 2g's are what got me into DSM's in the first place.. especially the 2gb eclipse's (2gb's are the 97-99 dsm's) they look so sexy when they are lowered and prowling down the street!! im 20 and after nearly 10 years of always being around these cars i still cant get over their looks.. plus as soon as i started learning more about these cars as i got older i learned of their potential

i am getting an AWD as soon as im outta college

cant go wrong with a 1g or 2g awd turbo, fast and cheap just like i like my women
