Started With Frozen Coolant

Okay so i bought this N/T Talon for 250 bucks ive always loved dsm. The Previous owner had water in the motor and it froze afterwards it has trouble starting and overheats unless moving at 30mph or higher. it will start with ether. I havnt done anything yet and nor have i pulled codes (lost cord for my ipad) i will post up codes tomorrow i hope. Any suggestions or advice. I have no visible leaks of oil or coolant. I'm thinking it may have damaged the waterpump and caused it to jump time which would explain the starting issue i'm pulling it apart over the weekend while im off from work. will have engine codes for you in a day or two.

You've posted in the right place. Definitely check your water pump, radiator, and your water lines. Do a coolant flush as well. I'd say use hot water during the flush, then empty all the water and put in the 50/50 premixed coolant. Also check the freeze plugs on the block just to ensure they haven't been pushed out at all. The freeze plugs are designed to pop before giving the block a chance to crack, but doesn't always work like it should.

yeah i just went and grabbed the battery from my friends house im throwing it onto charge tonight and will have codes and much more detail come daylight. Im really hoping for just a waterpump and timing issue at this moment but if its the motor it was only 250 for the whole car as it sat i will find a new motor for that thing and breath life into it if it costs me my supra

I hope it works out for you if not I'm selling my my 420a engine I already started working it. Weisco pistons eagle rods acl bearings arp main studs. New oil pump and water pump. Also gates timing belt and cometic head gasket. All new seals and plugs. The engine has 750 miles on it. Block and valve cover are painted fast and furious green. Everything was done at Speed One in Pa. Its a racing performance shop. Top notch work.
