alot of my buddys used to have those on their talons and they didnt work to great they got nothin out of them unless you change the outlets to a bigger size in diameter i say 2'25 inch outlets is good if ur not gonna do that then its worthless.. if your just doin it for looks then its good... the piping well if ur facing the front of the car your gonna have to put your intercooler upside down thats the only way it will work with the factory outlets.. the piping runs under the car instead of running it on the side around the radiator.. run the right side of the intercooler to the turbo elbow depending on the size of the pipes you might have to remove your right fan (this is facing the nose of the car) the left side u run under the car also straight to the throttle body.. get a 2g throttle body elbow for better flow... this is tuff cuz u have to make your custom pipes and its tuff to explain how cuz everyone has their own way of doin this but from what i kno thats how you do it.. sry if i confused you in anyway like i said its tuff to say depending on how your gonna mount the core

I want a new front intercooler power but I don't have the $ to buy one. Will any of these ways work to utilize the same power without the price? I was thinking of using a starion front mount factory intercooler, a supra sidemount intercooler, or maybe welding 3 stock ones together to make a front mount one. Has anyone tried these? Is power noticable? where can I look to find info on how to install one of these things? Are they hard to install and about how long do you thing it would take to install one of these?

Thanks for any replies:)

I couldn't find it on vfaq. Can anyone get the search part of it to work? On my computer it says I don't have permission. All I found on vfaq was reviews of the supra sidemount.

I have heard alot of great things about the Supra SMIC. As for the starion FMIC i have heard alot of bad things, like a huge pressure drop over the stock SMIC. If i am wrong please correct me but i believe that the best deal would be the Supra SMIC IMO. Good luck tho.

has anyone used a starion intercooler if so how did u run ur pipes. pic would be nice but any info will work thanks

This kid wants to sell me his 1988 Starion FMIC. He is selling it for 130 bux. I know you get what you pay for, but for now it would work on my car nicely until i can get a better FMIC. What do you guys think?

The 89 Starion IC was bigger! Those things sell on e-bay for around $50-75. They're good IC's if you're not running insane boost, or a BIG turbo. :D

even thou its SMIC, the supra is better...less lag and pressure drop...and its cheaper and easier to install

Indy race core has a kit with spearco core 2-216 24"/7.9"/3.5" for $900 with pipes but i would have to buy the u bend and turbo outlet elbow, or i could go with a starion ic my friends measures 24"/12"/2.5" he says that would be perfect for a 16g turbo i could probably get one for $150 and have this guy make pipes for me for $250 what would you guys do?

There is no comparison between the two intercoolers. the IRC one is so much better. Many say that the starion unit is little better than the stock sidemount.

Cheap as the starion unit may be, it is not worth the money or the work. It is not a very good intercooler. You also run into possible cooling problems with a front mount. If anything, you should get a supra sidemount. it would cost the same as or less than that starion IC.

the starion FMIC is only worth using if you get the end tanks moded.

if you can get a starion for $20 like i did and spend $100 to have the endtanks moded and $60 on piping and couplers, and don't plan making 1/4 times your life the starion is a worthwhile upgrade.

the only thing is finding a junkyard that will let you pick your own parts, becuase they don't understand what intercoolers are, and just thinks its a huge heatercore or small radiator ;)
