Another question about obtaining a better tune. With my RS49T and my 680cc injectors, i have a SAFC to tune with.. However i am reading about the Stage 3 DSMCHIPS and i had a question.. With the chip will i receive a better tune or even a easier tune?! Also do would i even need the chip?!

Thanks everyone!

I have tons of first hand experience with this since my chip is my only fuel control and I wouldn't have it any other way. To answer your question, the chip makes it easier to tune since it handles the injector compensation for you. If you were to use the AFC, you would end up having to take away so much fuel to compensate for the larger injectors that it would create a very aggressive timing curve which can lead to knock. While an AFC isn't required if you have the chip programmed with custom A/F and timing maps, you can still use it for fine tuning on race fuel or for making smaller changes that won't skew the timing.

In essence, tuning the car becomes much easier and if you upgraded to larger injectors that were out of the AFC's correction range, you could still have the chip control them. In the future, you could even use your EPROM ECU to step up to DSM Link and have an amazing tuning solution. Chip it, you won't be disappointed.

Let me know if that makes sense,

Andy
