Does anyone know anything about the ssautochrome catback exhaust. I have custom 2.5" piping from the cat and a muffler, but i want something new. I had heard good things about the ssautochrome headers, and i plan on getting those also. Does anyone know performance gains and the sound of the catback from this company. Any help is appreciated.

here is a link to the catback exhaust. It is the one on the very bottom of the page

cant tell you anything about quality but ill tell you that if you get one, get the gs-t setup because itll be larger in diameter yet will bolt up not the gs one you pointed out at the bottom

well ssautochrome has been making their "own" header that they copy it off Obx, and Obx doesnt like them very much, but anyways... the exhaust doesn't look like its has a good welding and for that price.. your better off.. getting something like this.. full stainless steel catback

i order one from them like a week or so ago, and its very sweet. and as for getting the GS-T one, i wouldn't do that.. tho it has a larger size, but if ur running 420A engine.. ur gonna loose some power so try to keep the piping down to 2.5". anything bigger is for turbo.

yea, anything bigger than 2.5" will lose to much back pressure, and contrary to what some dumbasses at my school tell me, back pressure isnt always a bad thing.

well yeah of course you want some back pressure to keep the exhaust pulses in the correct range but you will see gains from a 3" catback... yes depending on the system you may see a loss in some torque low down but the upper range gains will be there... i have no idea what the ratio of gained high end to lost low end on this exhaust would be so i guess you guys are right that if eclipse13 doesnt want to chance the loss of low end then def go the safe route with the 2.5 or whatever it is for the GS

its all a matter of what hes looking for, the fact that it is 420a doesnt mean he cant run a little larger exhaust... not like its a coffee can sized dealie

so has anyone else know anything about the ssautochrome EXHAUST?

Exhaust back pressure is always bad. Any motor (other than a 2 stroke) will make more peak HP with no backpressure period. If you were to put a header on your car and leave it open and goto the dyno you would make your highest peak HP. You may lose mid range because the exhaust is not optimize however it will still make the highest peak HP.

There are no circumstances where any type of backpressure is desirable unless you are trying to create a normally aspirated engine with peak power and torque under 3000rpm much the same as OE manufacturers do. The restrict the exhaust very heavily so they can post lower RPM peak numbers. Most people have this feeling about revving the car is hurting it and is illegal etc etc so they aim for all the power down load and backing up the exhaust is one way to do it.

In a drag racing scenario or where you want to go the fastest you must REV your engine out and make your peak HP up in the higher RPM band where the car accelerates faster. Less or zero backpressure will make more HP in those areas and make the car accelerate faster. (It will also be hella-loud!)

I know exactly what your saying, and you actually help my point. I want my HP to be lower in the RPM's, not up around 6. My car just feels weak in the midrange.

and not to sound like a ass but my point of this thread is to find out the quality and sound of the ssautochrome exhaust, not to learn about backpressure

Personally I have a header by ssautochrome and it is sweet. The flange is killer thick and the welds are nice like rolled dimes. I'd buy a catback from them.
