I'm custom making my own clutch to slave line and I just had a few questions. What size hose would be optimal for this? Would -4AN be too big, should I go with -3AN? Also, what size NPT fitting is on a 1g OEM master cylinder? Is it 1/4 or 3/8? What size is the slave cylinder hole? 10mm?

-3 an should be fine. there's no need to replace the whole line though, just from the frame rail to trans. hard line is better than any braided stainless or rubber. and all fittings are 10x1mm inverted flare.

I already removed the old line, it was cracked and looked like crap. Thanks for the fittings, that's also for the master cylinder?

You mean like this? Why not just buy this, $39 is dirt cheap

1g Complete Clutch Line Kit

I've run that line on my friends car, it is WAY too long... I don't want the extra slack just tucked away in a corner somewhere, I want to run it along the same exact route as the hard line with no slack.

what i did was buy like 4 feet of hard line at a parts store and bent it up to go from near the air filter part to the trans. most of it is coiled in a loop multiple times which allows for flexibility. cost me like $5, has pedal feel that will be far superior to any ss braided.

What did you use to bend the line? Is it possible to get a picture?

i used the handle on my floor jack to make the loops, and bent the rest by hand. no pics right now, not near my car at the moment.

I just bought a new hardline that runs from the master cylinder to that bracket that mates with the stock rubber line, it cost $6.00 and the part number is MB844044 in case anybody ever needs that long line.

There's a braided stainless line that replaces the rubber section, which is obviously the weak point when everything is working as it should. Rubber + pressure = expansion. STM and a few other vendors have the two flavors of that particular part for about 25 bucks. I bought the entire master-slave line from them recently because it was on sale and I'm unsure what condition my hard lines will be in by the time I get to check them over. Plus it eliminates that hard line to rubber transition, which I believe to be leaking a tiny bit. Apparently it's easy to crack the line right at that fitting, which is what I'm figuring, it's tight as can be.
