a friend of mine has his old stock front mount from his srt. im thinking of having it put on and getting a local shop to do custom piping for it since i get the intercooler free. He claims it held fairly well for him up to 20 psi on his stock turbo. i run a evo III big 16g and am only looking to run around 14lbs of boost if that, this swap is basically just for looks and to get rid of the leaky piping i already have. has anyone tried to do this and if so what were your findings for the 2g install as far as what modifications were needed? any help is much appreciated, thanks

Save your money, on your turbo its not worth the trouble to fab a shitty FMIC. You would be better off getting a 14b and sticking with your side mount. If you want a front mount buy one off ebay as they seem to be fairly popular, and would require much less fabbing on a 2g than mounting a shitty SRT front mount. Your not going to gain anything from a front mount unless you push more air though it. A stock side mount is more than enough for the t25 pushing 20 psi if it even can last that to redline. Save the trouble and do a turbo upgrade first with something to tune with and some decent injectors.

I have a VRSF and like it alot, especially for the price.
It was around 300. Punishment racing makes a similar product also.

Ebay is cheap, but it will be alot of work to get it in right as most the pipes are universal.

That intercooler is not worth it. I owned a full tilt stock turbo srt-4 before my current talon, The stock intercooler flows well, but it just wont cool for decent power. For the cost of getting the intercooler, and having a shop weld up custom pipes and getting the couplers you could almost have one of the ebay kits.

Yep, completely agreed. The stock FMIC for the neon is only good for about 300whp and gets heat soak VERY easily.

Im gonna say just get an ebay kit. Messing around with custom piping is not worth it, especially for that useless little intercooler. And if its mainly for looks, wouldnt you want one that looks, well, nice? LOL.

Think about it though. Why would you "upgrade" to a part that is going to be a bottleneck for some of the other parts you already have installed? I guess its nice that it was free, but you can get a nicely sized ebay core for less than $100. I guarantee you'll put that srt4 core in there and then realize exactly how large of a core you need to fill up that giant air dam.

A friend of mine tried this on a 96. The IC posts run right into the lower core support so you have to shove it almost on the floor where the bottom of the bumper covers half of it then it not only looks like a tweaker project but performs like one too. Needless to say the stock sidemount had a very short vacation.
