A turbocharger with a leaky compressor cover is an easy fix.

My Garrett 50-trim didn't come with a compressor cover seal, nor did my buddy's Turbonetics 50-trim. Either way, a $3 tube of Permatex is hardly a good reason to shed tears over.
Really? The guy I quoted a couple posts up sent his turbo to SBR 2x to be RTVd and it still leaked.

1. Why he couldn't save the time and "operate" a tube of RTV by himself is beyond me......

2. If it still leaked, then the machined surface is obviously flawed (ei. not flat) which is hardly the fault of a seller. Obviously the manufacturer would be to blame.

"This is funny. Tommy at turbochargers took one look at the pics and said the turbo wasn't theirs. This is after SBR orignally blamed Turbochargers for me not having it for two months when I ordered it. SBR told me they sent it back twice to turbochargers to get it clipped like I wanted it and both times it came back not clipped. So I received a non-clipped turbo but after 2 months was happy I saw it at all."

This is from the 2g20g thread on dsmtalk.

I'm not dealing with T.com. If I wanted to deal with them, I would have bought from them.

Oh, I understand now... your complaining of the build quality, so you take it up with the retailer, not the builder. Makes perfect sense to me, I think.

What is really happening here is not about the turbo, its about a whiney punk with a sandy V who promised me in a PM that he would trash talk myself and my company as long as he is around.

It's really not about the turbo, but I understand, I think.

Yes. That's the way it works.

You sold me a shit turbo. Any time is comes up I will let people know not to use it. This thread is about people's experience with the SBR 2g20g. I'm posting my experience with the SBR 2g20g. Sorry it's no praise for you, Huml. Offer some more free t-shirts to your supporters and I'm sure there will be a landslide of posts about how I must be an idiot and I don't know how to tune and it's my fault not the turbo's.

It wasn't sold as a T.com unit, it was sold as a SBR 2g20g. It's a SBR turbo as far as I'm concerned. T.com has already said it's not theirs, so who knows where the hell it was made.

If anyone wants to buy a SBR 2g20g, it needs to be leak tested. RTV has been proven not to work well, even when professionally done. Supposedly ~40% need compressor housing seals, but these needing one didn't get one. Think about it.

As I said, all 2g20g's are at the very least two years old, everyone of them was built by T.com, every single one of them. If someone has an invoice or a date to which their turbo was ordered, I will gladly send you the original purchase order and who it was to. Like I said, if it was a 2g20g, T.com built them for SBR.

So, you cannot buy a new 2g20g anymore, as we have not sold T.com turbos for over two years now.

You did get one thing right however...

I must be an idiot

How do they say, nail on the head?

lets put the bs aside and break this down simple. Stop blaming people for issues with the turbo. Stapl3's experience with this turbo obviously was not a good one and he is advising others not to use it and have the same problems he did. Whether or not the fix for the turbo was simple, the turbo is brand new and shouldnt have to be 'fixed'. IMO a valid reason to try and sway people away from using this product. No point in bashing each other because this thread is gonna get locked fairly soon.

Stop blaming the people who built the turbo he has a build issue with? O.K. I am with you, but only because this issue is well over two years old.

Just making sure you read the part where I said:

Seems like a bad point, since the turbo is not sold anymore?

Mike Huml

Well Mike, it seems like these turbos are still around since you can buy them used or even brand new from people who have never installed them. Just because your company doesnt sell them directly anymore doesnt mean that they have dissappeared off the face of the planet. I'm not blaming you or T.com, I am just saying that these personal attacks need to be put aside, especially since it is coming from a large shop/vendor of this site. It just seems very childish. You need to think about the welfare of the business and put this personal squabble with Stapl3 aside. People still have the chance to still use this turbo, so input is still valid.

Great job Mike, give yourself a t-shirt.

You're right though, I must be an idiot, I dealt with SBR.

Your turn.

Thank you bro, I will go in the back and pick one up!

See now, you just called about 8000 people an idiot, since that is a rough # of customers over the past four years that have dealt with SBR.

There will always be people like you in this world, and I am o.k. with that. It took me a while to come to terms with this, but I am o.k. Thanks for your concern!

Who attacks who?

I sold less than 15 of these turbos, if they are still around please assume they are either used or not coming from myself.

Huh, look what I found:

http://turbochargers.com/Turbos/TurboUpgrades/T28Killer.htm

Stapl3 will stop posting trash about me and SBR, you would never see me jump in a thread period!

Mike Huml

I fail to understand when it became common practice to have to rtv your turbo before use. Does any vendor explicitly state this on their website before purchase? No, because noone in their Goddamn right mind would spend $1000 to have to patch up their turbo. For $1000 you'd think they could pay someone to spend 5 minutes to RTV it before shipping to the consumer, but again, who wants to unwrap a $1000 turbo that was assembled incorrectly to find an RTV patch job on it.

Would you buy brand new intercooler pipes that were advertised with leaky welds because it's an easy fix? Get real.

ummm...... Wow..... Ask a simple question and everyone is ready to #### one another up.....

I have absolutely no beef with T.com nor SBR. Every purchase I have made by SBR has been a pleasant one. I did not purchase the 2g20g from SBR, I purchased it from a member off of here.

This thread was NOT intended for a vendor bash like you guys have turned it in to be. All I was trying to do was get a little information about the turbo and see what I could do about it not sealing....

Don't be a SBR nutswinger and come in this thread with your BS. Call up FP and ask them if their turbos should be RTV'd before install. Somehow I doubt it.

Stop swinging from FP's nuts.

I am hardly a "SBR nutswinger." Please know some background on someone before you make ####ed up assumptions.

Huml, for the first time in my life, I am on your side. While I do agree that turbos should come 100% ready to rock, you can't bash the vendor that just sells them. I didn't call crying to AGP when I found out mine leaked. It'd be nice if vendors took the time to do this, BUT the turbo more often than not needs clocked, possibly ruining any RTV seal the vendor would use anyways.

You're the only one whining about this. We can't help it you're being a little girl about it.

Hey I have a sbr 20g and it has been running hard for 20k miles :rocks: ................

#### ;)

Well hopefully mine will when it comes back. I talked to FP today and said please make a note and stick on the housing for when it goes to be put back together to either make a seal or some how make it seal and to test it in shop.

If I could bring up an old post? I just put this turbo on last week. I had it in my closet for a year and a half while I put together the supporting mods. And my I say so far so good. The car pulls hard, alot harder than before with the same boost and it's strong, it doesn't fall off like the stock turbo. I have'nt pushed it real hard yet. That's a question I have if anyone could answer. How long if any is there for break in for a turbo? Install was a breeze. All this while I was on a time-out from here, I can't believe I got it done. :sosad: Peace.

P.S. If anyone has any q's pm me or e-mail me I have some pics of the install some where.
