Real ninja problem here. I am so boggled I don't know what to say besides to describe it. I have a 2G 99 RS NT. It has 68k original miles on it and runs great. Besides on thing... eveytime I rev the engine up to 2k+ RPMs it make a squirting noise coming from behind my dashboard, sounds like it is behind the instrument panel. I'm talking about a real loud squiritng noise... it gets even louder @ 4k+ RPMs. Now... I know, to check all hoses, seals etc etc... I cannot find a leak anywhere! I also checked the fluid levels and I mean all the fluid levels and still NO DICE! they're not leaking or anything. Is there anything I'm missing? PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I think you lost us at "squirting noise"- I'm not sure what that would sound like.

It definitely follows ONLY engine RPM, and not speed? (I've had speedometer cables go dry and make some pretty interesting noises behind the cluster, but that only changes with speed). My next thought is Tach- but these are electric, no cable, but could perhaps have a moving internal part that is rubbing, etc.

Could you compare the noise to something? Maybe it's a buzz due to vibration, etc? Does it happen to change sound if you press and release the brake or clutch pedal? Turn AC on and off? What about aftermarket gauges?

I've seen this on quite a few 2gnt's and the noise comes from coolant going through the heater core. It literally sounds like water traveling through a pipe. Try to completely burp the coolant system of air or live with the noise assuming it isn't leaking anywhere. As a test unhook the two heater hoses from the firewalls and connect them together in the engine bay using a plastic splice or pipe. Then test and see if the sound went away..
