So idk what the hell is going on..
It's pissing me off.
Well, my driver rear wheel area has been making this squeaking/ticking noise when I drive in a rhythmic pattern. The faster I go, the fast the ticking goes. And when the brakes and or e brake is engaged, the sound immediately stops.
When it was first happening, like a month ago, I thought it was my brake pads and rotors.. So I changed them.. The brake pad that sits in front of the rotor was ate the hell up. The one behind, was perfectly fine. So, after I changed them, the noise went away some what. I could still slightly hear it, but for the most part it was gone. Didn't think anything of it, till this week.
The noise came back.. And I thought, it would go away.. It didn't. Every day it got louder and louder like as before. But, like I said, the noise would go away as soon as the brakes were engaged or the e brake.
So today I decided to tackle this thing again.. And to my freakin surprise, the front brake pad was down to its metal backing.. The damn padding was gone!
The brake pad behind the rotor is perfectly fine again! Brand new therma quiet pads were installed a month ago, and only the front brake pad is getting worn out..
The passenger side rear is perfectly fine as well. Both pads are still perfectly fine. It's only that one pad on the driver side.
So something is making that front pad rub the hell out of the rotor when I'm driving.
So I thought it was the e brake, and maybe it was too tight. So, for s's and g's, I just loosened the nut all the way (under the console) so that the e brake will not engage at all. And luckily I had a few extra brand new pads laying around, so I slapped those on as well.
I've been driving since then, and the sound IS STILL there, but a lot fainter since I changed the pads again. I think the pad is still up against the rotor some how.. I'll check in a few days if the padding is getting worn down this time..
Is there something that I'm missing here?
Is there something that I can unhook to indeed make sure nothing is pulling on the pad towards the rotor?
The caliper itself seems to be in fine condition..
Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks guys
